How I used technology for my research and planning.

I used the media software of Popplet for my research and planning I did becauseit allows my work to have a visual element to it rather than just listing my points.

This software helped me a lot because without this and other software my research and planning would have been very boring and text heavy, it allowedmy work to be more effective and also it is easier for the audience to read and

I could explain my points with images and link other points together if they linkedto each other.

allowed meto enter

videos and talk directly about them, rather than having the audience find the video

themselves.

Allowed me to link the pictures

together and thentalk about how theylink together. A very

effective visualelement

What technologies have I used for my ancillary products.

The main media technology I used in the making of my ancillary products was Photoshop. This helped me make my ancillary products as it allowed me to edit my photo effectively

to make it look more professional, it also allowed me to edit my text to make it moreprofessional as well. Finally, it allowed me to edit the layout of my poster and magazine to

make it more conventional.

I posterized the image to makeit look more professional.

I make the text look morecrisper and bold to make

it more professional.

Page 6: Question 4

What technology did I use in my trailer?

In my trailer I used iMovie to improve my product. iMovie is software from Apple andis included in all Macs they release. This technology allowed me to improve my work asit allowed me to edit my scenes together, add music to my trailer and add title scenes.

iMovie made my product look my professional.

The title screen (made on Photoshop) allowedme to give the plot of the story away to the

audience. Without, iMovie the audience wouldn’t know the plot.

The music added to my trailer (downloaded off theinternet) allowed the trailer to relate to the target

audience, as the music associated with this genre isupbeat. Without iMovie we wouldn’t have been ableto add music and therefore it would make the trailer

be less conventional and look less professional.

Cross dissolveediting.

Fade to blackediting.

iMovie let me edit our scenes together better because it is so simple to use. This made

my product better because all films and trailersedit the scenes together and make them flowbetter. This makes them more conventional.

iMovie helped me create a moreprofessional finish product.

Page 7: Question 4

What technologies did I use in my trailer continued.

Cropping andTrimming

I cropped using iMovie, this allowed me tomake my clips a lot quicker and precise. It also allowed me to delete the clips that

weren’t very good.

This allowed me to make a moreprofessional trailer.

This was the whole clip for this scene. However, not all of it was necessary so we went on ‘clip trimmer’ and cut it downto the ones we needed. The highlighted bit is the scene that was used in the trailer.

Adding effects to a scene.

I added effects, using iMovie, to the bedroom scene at the party, this allowedme to show the drunken state

of Eddy.

This was useful because it allowed me

to portray to the audience how drunk Eddy was

The first image is what it was like before I added the effect and then it shows what the effectis called ‘Dream’ and then what the clip is like after I have added the effect. This

portrays to the audience that Eddy is drunk and how he has been looking forward to this for a long time.

What technologies did I use in my trailer continued.

Fading the musicto make the dialogue

easier to hear.

Once I have added the music to thetrailer it then led to some of the

dialogue being hard to hear. Howeverusing iMovie I was able to fade the

music.

This allowed my dialogue beingeasier to hear for the audience

which made my trailer moreeffective and professional.

The volume section of the inspectorshows how loud the music is

normally. However, the ducking sectionallowed me to reduce the volume inorder for the dialogue to be heard.

Camera anglesand shot types.

I used different shot types in mytrailer to make it more interestingand to look more professional. IfI just used one shot type it would

of been incredibly boring. So usingmore angles allowed it to be

a better more effective trailer.

Wide-Shot High Shot Close Up Over the shoulder

Using the video camera and tripodallowed me to use different

shot types and angles.

Page 9: Question 4

What technology did I use in my conclusion?

I used Glogster in my conclusion to allow me to show links between my promotionalpackage. This was very helpful in doing this because it allowed me to get all my

ideas now in detail whilst also have a visual element and pictures to back myideas and key findings. The Glogster also allowed me to create a flow diagram to showclearly to the audience how they create links. As an important part of the conclusionis a visual element Glogster was perfect in letting me getting my knowledge down

but in a visual way.

Allowed me tohave detail in my

answer toquestion two.

Allowed me tohave a visual element to the

question as well.

The arrows allowedme to link the threeproducts together

effectively.

Overall. All of the media products I used worked together to allow me to createsound media products. They all linked together for example; without

iMovie I wouldn’t of been able to edit the clips however withoutPhotoshop I wouldn’t of been able to add the title screens. All of the media

products linked together to allow me to create a professional promotional package.

Using these media products I did encounter difficulties, for example, when filming the trailer we filmed it in the wrong format for iMovie

however he overcome this by Kirby converting all the clips to the rightformat.

Without these technologies I wouldn’t of been able to do a in-depthresearch and planning because it would off just been blocks of text

however because of the software we used it allowed me to get my pointacross whilst having a visual element to my work.

Media technologies and software are key for success in the coursework because it allows you to make sound products that look conventional and

professional. Also it allows you to do in-depth research and planning along with the conclusion with all the detail you need as well as

visual elements to support your points.
