How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluations stages?

ResearchWhen we were given the task of making a music video with a digipak and website we started to

research in to existing music video, digipak and websites. I have used three websites to do my research, YouTube, wikipedia and Google news.

YouTube

I have used YouTube to get inspiration for the music video. I looked and many video from many different genres. We used YouTube to look at the conventions of a music video.

Wikipedia

I used wikipedia to look at the history of music videos. Also I looked at bands digipak and their history to see if the video, website and digipak all related

Google news

I used Google news to look at music videos in the news, to see why they are in the news.

WebsitesI looked into different band website to get inspiration in to see what conventions the website used and what needs to be used in our website.

Digipak I looked into different bands digipaks to get inspiration in to see what conventions they used and what needs to be used in our digipak. I also looked to see how the music video and digipak relates.

PlanningFor the planning stage of coursework I looked three different websites to make ideas on what should be

included in the digipak, website and video

YouTube

Flickr

We used flickr to upload image to so the can be added to our blogger. In the planning stage we used flickr to upload image that we liked and that could be used in out music video.

Da font

When we were planning our digipak and website, we decided that we needed tolook into the font that will be used. We found that the digipaks uaually had small and simple writing but the website has quite large font as it needs to stand out therefore we downloaded two fonts.

AnimaticWe have made an Animatic to show the storyboard but as a video. I found this very useful as we could see how long each shot should be and what neede to be change

Hardware/ software usedHardware

• Tripod - A tripod is really important in the filming of our music video as this will keep the camera still so it will be smooth and will help the continuity .

• Video camera – We used a video camera to filming our music video. The video camera was in high definition so the image will be very good.

To create our music video we used Apple Mac. This is the latest technology which helped us make our video, digipak and website as we could use Final Cut express, Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

Software

• Final cut express – we used Final cut express to edit our video also we used it to add effects. We used a few main effect I our video one was the chroma key which would put out the red and make it stand out when the clip is in black and white

• Photoshop – We used Photoshop to make the digipak. We put the images we wanted to use on to photoshop and edited them we did many effects including resizing.

• Dreamweaver- we used Dreamweaver to make the website. I made the website and I enjoyed using the program. The images that are in the website are Photoshop images.

Another few pieces of software we used was flickr we used this to upload image to so can be put on our blogger. The final piece of software we used was vimeo this is a video hosting website we put both our final video and rough cut on to this and the embedded the code in to the html of our blogger.

Construction of the websiteI was given the task of making the website as because I am doing A level ICT and having made a website before I had many skills that could be used.

To start the process I made paper drafts of the ideas I had and showed them to my group they then gave me ideas on how to change in. I made the first draft of the website very simple to work out where the button etc will go

Next I changed the background of the website from black to grey and added buttons to the website. I made the button in Photoshop, by working out the size of the button and making the blank page that size. Firstly I made the background grey and the text black this is the basic button.

I wanted the button to be a rollover image so they turned white on to know what page you were on the button would be white.

EditingWe all had individual responsibilities in the construction of the music video digipak and website I was given the task of making the website as I had many Dreamweaver which could be used.

DigipakHennie had the reasonability of making the digpipak

Here is Hennie made the digipak, we all started doing research in to digipak and all found ideas and ways to portray them with our own digipak. I found two digipak cover that I liked and we used the ides from the album cover pull in emergency

Hennie made the digipak by making mocks off the showing that conventions of digipaks. Here the final digipak showing the front and back cover, and the middle of the album cover. Also we have a picture of it in 3D

Evaluation To evaluate my product I needed user feedback the best of doing this would be putting it on my video on

facebook and getting responses from people with the target audience. From the response we got we were able to write about the good and bad things within the website. Also throughout the process of making the video, website and digipak, we evaluated where we were at and ways of improving.
