Question 3

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

These are the types of people I received my feedback from and exactly who I would want my work to appeal to. The type of people who enjoy themselves with friends, who order in pizzas and play games or watch a film, go out to places together. They are teenage to twenties as this is who the research found to be main fans of horror.

Question 3

From my audience feedback, I gained knowledge I already knew, and some unexpected results. Some examples of the audience feedback that was already known was aspects like the popularity of the horror genre. Also that Zombie/Post Apocalyptic style of horror was becoming popular amongst fans of the genre. This mainly being dueto AMC’s The Walking Dead.

Question 3

What wasn’t known was that fans like the male main character. This came as a small shock as I was under the impression that fans liked the idea of the strong female lead. Although it may have paid off using a female lead, it did cause concern as to if it would actually work. Therefore, the main character was made male. Although the Hegemonic male would be what fans wanted, he wasn’t available therefore the lead was kept quite ‘humanised’ rather than presented as the ‘superior man’.

I wanted to challenge the stereotypical survival appearance from films as it always looks so prepared, yet impractical. I wanted my lead to look like an amateur ‘scavenger’ style with limitations. The original design I made proved to be rather untrustworthy with parts falling off left, right and centre. The design wasn’t a million miles off this example. This therefore led to the conclusion of limitation. Although the audience feedback suggested that this style looks better, it breaks away from the reality of the plot.
