What kind of media institution might distribute your media

product and why?

The two largest music magazines publishers are IPC and Bauer media.

IPC Media is the UK's leading consumer magazine publisher with approximately 90 brands and selling 350 million magazines

every year. IPC are responsible for publishing the very popular NME which is

an indie music magazine. My music magazine is also an Indie magazine. They are also responsible for creating a range of different magazines including gossip,

fashion and lifestyle.

Bauer media are responsible for creating many popular music magazine such as Kerrang which of a rock magazine and also Q which is also a indie magazine. Bauer Media reaches over nineteen

million UK adults across multiple media channels. They are also responsible for a number of different radio and television

stations and a very wide range of different magazines.

I would get IPC to publish my music magazine. The reason for this is because

Bauer media publish bigger music magazines and also have many popular

radio stations and television stations so I would want my music magazine to be

able to compete against the big magazines that Bauer media produce.

Also because IPC media only produce one popular indie magazine, there is plenty of

room left for another one to become popular and to draw in a larger audience

for indie music magazines.

I would sell my magazine in news agents and big shopping stores in order to advertise my magazine more. I would also sell them in clothing shops such as Primark and Quiggins as my target audience tend to shop in these shops. I would also sell my magazine is popular music shops such as HMV because I know that these shops are popular with Indie styled people.
