Information about our artist so that the audience can learn more about him

Female character:• The main female performer has not been included

in the ancillary task. It is possible that if we did use the female character we would have been able to attract a larger audience as they might be able to identify with her. In both the ancillary tasks and music video we have included shots and images places in central London for example tower bridge, Big Ben, Southbank and City hall. So the audience could establish the two products are a combination.

Typography:

In the ancillary task we used the same typography in order to make our product become known to our target audience and create brand identity. In our music video we used text for the beginning of the music video this has been done to create a movie style opening as it conventional in music videos of a hip/hop and RnB genre. The size of the font is medium sized and bold this connotes strength and masculinity. However the font in the ancillary task is more sophisticated and simple. This has been purposely done so that it breaks conventions and shows the audience that hip/hop and RnB artists can be different, simple and not necessarily ‘show offs’.

Logo

• We have produced a company logo that we have placed on our ancillary task. The logo has been used to create brand identity. The company logo is also used to add authenticity of our ancillary work as this is a key feature of professional CD Covers.

Representation of our artist:

• In both my main product and ancillary task I was able to show the main performer as the conventional hip/hop and RnB artist. I managed to do this through mise-en-scene. Through the use costume in which I designed for the artist to wear; jeans hoody and bandana allowed for us to conform to the stereotypical hip/hop and RnB artists. Also, another technique which helped represent the main artist and that was the dance scenes including our main performer and also other dancers. This conforms the artists in hip/hop and RnB.

Props

• In both the ancillary tasks and music video we used similar props that have connotations of hip/hop and Rnb genres. For example the ‘hood costume’ is conventional in most hip/hop videos. This shows that we are consistent in our use of similar props in both the music video and ancillary tasks.
