How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary

texts? By Paige Atkins

Synergy…

There is synergy between our magazine front cover masthead and our trailer. This allows the audience to recognise that they are connected. This helps promote the film as the film title is easily remembered.

Synergy…

We used the main character/actor on all levels of media platforms. The magazine, trailer and poster.

This allows synergy throughout the film and makes the advertising and marketing consistent.

Synergy…

Using synergy throughout the main product and the ancillary texts has allowed a more organised and effective product which looks more professional.

This allows the audience not to be confused when seeing a product from this promotional pack and connect everything together.

Colour Scheme

The colour schemes throughout the pack are black, white, orange and red. This adheres to the horror genre so the audience understand what genre it is.

This allows the product to look more organised and professional.

Conventions…

We made sure our ancillary texts adhered to the conventions of a movie magazine.

This would mean that the audience aren’t confused with the products.

We decided to create two magazine covers. One for a stereotypical movie magazine and another for a horror movie magazine.

This showed us the contrasts between them and how the image makes the biggest difference.

By having the ancillary texts it showed us the importance of advertising.

Without the ancillary texts the trailer itself does not get enough attention.

They crate a buzz around the film, and give your film more recognition.
