Our little dancers, singers, musicians all displayed incredible talent and this once again prove that our children are not only brilliant in academics in the classroom but also talented in performing arts .

SHOWCASING THE TALENT OF …………...OUR TINY TOTS

REPUBLIC DAY

Republic Day is celebrated in our school by hoisting the National flag . Patriotic songs were sung by students,followed by speech which were delivered by students on the lives of freedom fighters. This day reminds us of the martyrs and encourages us to always work hard to keep the pride of our own country high.

MOCK EVACUATION DRILL

It is very essential to make students aware of saving life by having a bit of knowledge and practice . As we know, practice makes a man perfect .So as a regular practice in a modern progressive school, a mock evacuation drill was organized in City International School, Aundh .These drills are a bi- annual affair in our school. The school administration places a high priority on all programs pertaining to Safety and Security of its valued students. Under the guidance of the Fire brigade personnel the drill was conducted in school. This was possible only with the guidance and active participation of all the staff of the school who understand the vital necessity of such mock drills. This would help them in future to face any unpredicted circumstances.

Fire drills are also a preparation to keep us safe in the event of disaster.

TRAFFIC AWARENESS DRIVE

In January 2017, students of CIS participated in a Road Safety Campaign. This traffic awareness programme was conducted by Pune Police . The traffic police brought some banners and stickers to be utilized during the Awareness programme. Various messages regarding Road safety were written on them . We started our campaign from Bremen chowk. After every signal , we went to Zebra crossings and to display the banners , We also used some Slogans to grab the passersby attention . We also appreciated the bikers wearing helmets , and people wearing seatbelts in cars by pasting stickers on their vehicles . In the end , I can say that Road Safety is very important . This traffic Awareness programme was a step towards safer India and was for a social cause . An Essay Writing competition and Drawing competition was conducted for students of IX standard .This gave them a golden oppor-tunity to open their artistic minds . In this competition , the participants were asked to write an Essay on “Traffic rules in India .This competition helped them improve their vocabulary ,creative skills and also to improve their knowledge on traffic rules .It was indeed an informative activity !

CHRISTMAS CelebRATIon

Our Pre Primary children celebrated Christmas with great enthusiasm and gaiety . A Christmas party was arranged where all our children dressed in red and white . A teacher attired as Santa Claus came for the party. All the children were happy to see Santa Claus. He distributed chocolates to all the students.

The children also made various items for Christmas like socks, Santa caps, Christmas tree and Christmas Bells. The children enjoyed the activity very much.

PRE-PRIMARY PICNIC

One day fun filled picnic arranged by school for Pre-primary section and went to “Lekha Farms” on 14th December 2016. As soon as children reached there ,they were served scrumptious breakfast . Children went to see magic show. The magician performed different types of magic for the students.

Children were thrilled to see the magic and enjoyed the magic show very much. Then all children went to the play area. Children played there on the See-saw, slide, jumping jack and had yummy food . Overall it was a wonderful blend of fun and merriment for the tiny toddlers.

PRIMARY PICNIC

Our school organized a picnic on 15th December 2016 for Students of primary section to Morachi Chincholi. The buses fully packed with students and teachers headed for Morachi Chincholi . The students were extremely excited to reach the destination .We all kept singing songs in the bus till we reached the venue.

After the breakfast, We went to see different plants of medicinal value which were cultivated there. We also enjoyed tractor and bullock cart ride. At around 1pm, we gathered in the dinning hall for lunch. Lunch was delicious .

After lunch again we started with different activities. Puppet Show was arranged for us which we enjoyed and loved .

Before leaving, we went to see peacocks , main attraction of Morachi Chincholi. They were amazing. Children were delighted to see so many peacocks at a time . It was indeed a great day!

SECONDARYSECONDARYSECONDARY PICNICPICNICPICNIC It was 15th December 2016 , we were overwhelmed for our school excursion for which we had been waiting all these days. At night , I was making plans of what I would do during the excursion. We the students from standard 6th to 10th were going to “Prathamesh Farm”. It was morning at last and all of us gathered in school premises on 16th December at 6.45 am. One could see the excitement on everybody’s face. During the bus journey ,we sang many songs, we danced and also enjoyed seeing the scenery outside. As we reached the destination our happiness knew no bounds . It is situated on top of a hill, from where the city could be seen at a glance .We could see many hills and the nature around us. At first we were given the breakfast which was mouth watering and then we went for valley crossing ride, which was created by tying ropes at a height .It was scary for some students, but with cheering from classmates everyone could cross that bridge .We also had bullock cart ride which was really enjoyable .We were called for lunch, at that moment we were really hungry .So we all rushed to the dinning hall . The food was delicious .After eating we went for DJ dance floor where we enjoyed a lot. We also had tattoo artist who made beautiful tattoos for us. We played in the lawn area .The time flew by so fast that we didn’t realize it and it was time to leave the place. We even had evening snacks .Later while returning back to school , we again sang , danced and enjoyed . The day was really fabulous one. We all enjoyed a lot and we will never forget our good memories with our friends.

SPORTS WEEK

A healthy nation is always a wealthy nation. Therefore, it is necessary to put em-phasis on sports. One can think of a healthy mind lives only in a healthy body. Both physical and mental well being are the prerequisites of great achievements in man’s life. Sports have their great utility.It is very essential to maintain mental and physical fitness. It encourages the growth of team-spirit.

Sports and games bring about various methods of diversions. Our school organized Sports Week for the students of CIS, who participated in various games like dodge ball , running race , kho –kho etc. The competitions were held among the students of all the four houses.

SPORTS ACHIEVEMENTS OF STUDENTS FOR THE YEAR 2016-17

Our school students participated in the Zilla Parishad matches in the field of Sports for year 2016-17 from August to October 2016. Anuja Chopda from class 10 A and Aditya Chopda from class 8B , Aundh secured first place and second place respectively , in Squash tournament. Students participated in Kho-kho , Football , Swimming , Karate and Chess .

Shivani A Kumar from class 7B also secured 3rd place in Karate in Zilla Parishad matches. CIS , Aundh also celebrated Sports Annual week . Students participated in 200 metres , 100 meters races along with 30 meters race and Langdi for smaller classes. The sports events were held house wise . Taking part in sports events and games leads to overall development of students.

MUSIC COMPETITION

In the first week of February ,Patriotic Song-Singing competition was organized in our school. The judge of the event was Mrs. Mohini Sahastrabuddhe . She is a famous singer who is expert in Hindustani Vocal and she also performs on Akashwani ,Vivid Bharati Pune station.

Students started the programme with Saraswati Vandana. Students of standard 4 — 6 participated in the competition.

1st position was bagged by students of standard 5th , second position was secured by students of 4th and third position was secured by students of 6th ..The programme instilled a sense of patriotism and self confidence in the participants .

VISIT TO SUHANA ECO-FARM

On 17th,February, 2017, a visit was arranged by the Times NIE Association to Suhana Eco-farm at Bhlueshwar , Yavat . The place was beautiful , calm and full of greenery . At the beginning, the students and teachers visited the Suhana Warehouse . The warehouse was huge and well maintained. They showed us the working of huge machines and the storage of their products. Then we visited Suhana’s eco-farm which was very pleasant. They showed us the farm and its working. There we got a brief account of Eco- friendly activities, Organic farming , Vermiculture and Waste management practices . They also showed us the packaging of their Pravin Masalewale’s products . Mr. Anand Chordia , the director of Suhana also addressed the students and teachers about Environment Consciousness and explained about the culture of their Eco-farm.

An activity for students on Report Writing was also conducted .Thereafter from the students articles , ten newsmakers of the year 2016-17 ,were selected . They got a trophy as a token of appreciation. This activity was held to check the writing skills and knowledge of the students .

Farewell party for class X was organized on February 8th ,2017 . It was an incredible morning hosted and organized by class IX students ,to bid farewell for class X students . .

The programme started at 10.00 am with a prayer and lightening of the lamp. We had dance and music performances by class IX students.

The highlight of the event was crowning of Miss and Master CIS for the year 2016 namely Miss Ishika Kulkarni and Master Rohit Kundu respectively. Class X students also shared their views . The Farewell was concluded by the lunch.
