Mrs. Manning's 5th period students have been working since the beginning of December on a Defined STEM project where the students made spy decoders. Re-cently. the students were able to start writing secret messages using their spy decoders. After they finished, they traded messages and decoders with other groups and worked on decoding the other group's secret mes-sages.

Ms. Goss is the quintessential team player. She helps every class she walks into. She keeps the kids focused and working hard. She spreads posi-tivity throughout the school. She ac-cepts any challenge that is given to her from monitoring student behavior to leading her own classes. She has been a crucial part in decorating the school and helping the 8th grade with their data wall. She is a master in eve-ry subject from Social Studies to Math. She is an expert when it comes to whipping that bus around. She is a joy to teach with and she brightens the room. She deserves more thanks than we can possibly give!

On January 11 some of our PSJ stu-dents who are auditioning for the NC Eastern District Honors Band performed their solo for a music class at John Small. The students have to prepare a solo, scales, and perform sight reading in front of a panel of judges competing against other Eastern NC Band Students. If they are some of the top scorers, they will be selected to perform at the Honors Band Clinic in February at ECU. Good luck to our musicians!

Mrs. Ridenour and Mrs. DeMay's class created a "Pick Me Up" refreshment cart to share Christmas cheer and to provide a boost to our teachers after Christmas. Students provide teachers with coffee, tea, cookies and candy canes on their breaks. We look forward to seeing you regularly, and thank you for the treat!

The week before Christmas break, many stu-dents and staff participated in Holiday Spirit Week! Check out these pictures from San-ta's Workshop day at PSJ. Many of our staff and students dressed as Santa's helpers. Here's a look at some of the fun!
