process in accordance with prescribed methodologies and legisla on.

Quan ty Surveyors are the best placed professionals to be able to evaluate project costs before, during

and a er construc on. Quan ty Surveyors are able to provide detailed analysis (on demand) for both over

and under expenditure.

SIPDM and the role of a Quan ty Surveyor

Where the procurement relates to the provision of new infrastructure or the rehabilita on, refurbishment or altera on of exis ng

infrastructure, such a report needs to be prepared by a professional quan ty surveyor or a registered professional architect, professional senior architectural technologist, a professional landscape architect,

professional landscape technologist, professional engineer, professional engineering technologist.

This standard also requires that the authorisa on to proceed with the next phase at Procurement Gate 5, the approval of

tender evalua on recommenda ons at Procurement Gate 6 and the authorisa on to issue an order at Framework Gate 4,

be based on the contents of an evalua on report. Such a report is required to be prepared by one or more of the aforemen oned

registered professionals.
