Chapter 1 Organization Summary

1.1 Foreword

The current global warming trend is accelerating, and human life and industrial

emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere continues to increase. As members

of society, inventory and controlling of greenhouse gas emissions is the companies’ due

responsibilities and obligations, The production of this report is to illustrate the total

emissions of the greenhouse gas in the air by the sources of greenhouse gases from

QSMC, which is hope to master the state of greenhouse gas emissions, make carbon

reduction policy to achieve the sustainable development goals of energy conservation and

carbon reduction.

1.2 Company Profile

QSMC (Quanta Shanghai Manufacturing City) was founded in March 2001, located in

China Shanghai Songjiang Export Processing Zone, covers an area of about 1400,000

square meters, is the manufacturing base of Taiwan's Quanta Group in Shanghai. Now

QSMC have F1, F2, F4, F5, F6, F7, Q-BUS A / B / C and other modern standard factories

mainly produces notebook computers, servers, mobile phones, GPS, wireless

communications, and other high-tech products; Q-BUS D / F and repair workshop, mainly

for product maintenance; QSMC laboratory building mainly uses for new product

development and product testing; H1/H2 logistics center uses for logistics flow and

storage of goods; Also QSMC provide staff with a campus-like modern living quarters,

living quarters equipped with modern life, leisure, entertainment and sports facilities and

venues, is the warm home to majority of employees stay.

As the same with Shanghai region, QSMC belongs to the impact of the Yangtze River

Delta plain, flat terrain, a typical subtropical monsoon climate with four distinct seasons. It

is warm and rainy in spring, hot and humid in summer, cool in autumn, cold and dry in

winter. The annual average temperature is 15.4 ℃. Periphery around the factory is set

greenbelt; the whole green area is filled with flowers, fresh air and beautiful scenery.

With excellent R & D and production capacity, QSMC rapidly develop, only 10 years,

company size increases from 200 to 50,000 people over the development, export volume

increases from 170 million dollars in 2001 to $38 billion in 2008. In 2009, the company's

notebook shipments come to 37 million. Company lines up industry elites, strong in

manufacturing and R & D team, won the world's leading global IT industry enterprises of

all ages, have become its customers.

Since QSMC is set up, it has received many honors, and awarded the first of hundred

enterprises export in 2002, 2003, 2004 for three consecutive years. In 2003, QSMC

ranked second in exports of foreign invested enterprise in China. In 2004, QSMC ranked

fourth in top 500 foreign enterprise in China. With export, it is the top 10 of Chinese

1.3 Policy Statement

The climate and environment of the earth is becoming worse day by day because of

the influence from greenhouse gas. As a member of global civics and in order to take

responsibility for environment protection and earth care, QSMC will try our best to

accomplish the following items:

1, We will commit ourselves to check greenhouse gas emission in QSMC, and make

sure that we can master the status of greenhouse gas emission.

2,Make further efforts to lower greenhouse gas emission voluntarily according to the

result of checking.

3,Propel forward and support measures of energy saving and carbon reducing

continuously to get sustainable development and take the enterprise’s responsibility well.

4,We will obey the laws and rules related with environment and comply with the

demanding of the customers etc.

1.4 The basis of the report production

The production of this report is based on the first part of ISO14064 greenhouse gases:

the organizational level to quantify greenhouse gas emissions and reporting standards

with guidelines of the IS 2006 version.

Chapter 2 Organizational boundaries

2.1 Setting organizational boundaries

Greenhouse gas inventory of organizational boundaries set in accordance with

ISO14064-1-related criteria, and refer to Greenhouse Gas Protocol, then set it by the way

of ” Operational control”.

Organizational boundaries set is based on Taiwanese Quanta Group's manufacturing

-located in mainland China Shanghai Songjiang Export Processing Zone Quanta

Shanghai Manufacturing City (referred to as QSMC), including the "Tech-Front (Shanghai)

Computer Co., Ltd., Tech-Com (Shanghai) computer Co., Ltd., Tech-Lead (Shanghai)

Computer Co., Ltd., Tech-Giant (Shanghai) computer Co., Ltd., Tech-Wave (Shanghai)

Logistics Co., Ltd., Shanghai Songseh Property management Co., Ltd "six companies,

including the range (F1, F2, F4, F5, F6, F7, Q-BUS (A, B, C, D, F), H1, H2, living area

(including Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3, and pine club house of four parts. Not including

outsourcing of restaurants, supermarkets, post office, pharmacy, bookstore, hair salon.)),

2.2 The time and responsibility the report covers

2.2.1 The contents of this inventory report is the greenhouse gas which produced

within the boundaries of operating of QSMC Quanta Shanghai Manufacturing City during

January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010.

2.2.2 This report is in January of each year, preceding the annual greenhouse gas

emissions inventory work, and develop the contents of the report, which includes

summary of greenhouse gas emissions at previous year, and as references for report of

greenhouse gas for this year and next year .

2.2.3 The scope of this report inventory Quanta Shanghai Manufacturing City

operating range of greenhouse gas emissions, while part of Quanta total emissions, when

operating boundary changes, the report will be revised, reissued .

2.2.4 When the report was released, the report is revised or repealed until valid.

2.3 organizational boundaries and description of changes

The object is interrogated which is owned by Quanta, located in Songjiang Export

Processing Zone of Quanta Shanghai Manufacturing City in Shanghai in China. QSMC

organizational boundary changes, when the revised report will be issued.

Chapter 3 Operational boundaries

3.1 Definition

3.1.1 Definition of greenhouse gases

Greenhouse gases are gaseous components of the atmosphere, which naturally

present in the atmosphere and due to human activities, which can absorb and distribute

the wavelength of the radiation within the infrared spectrum produced by the earth's

surface, atmosphere and clouds. ISO14064 definition and control of the six greenhouse

gases, namely CO2、CH2、N2O、HFCs、PFCs、SF6.

3.1.2 The operational boundaries of this inventory includes direct (category 1), energy

indirect (scope 2) greenhouse gas emissions. Greenhouse gas emissions include six

categories with CO2, CH2, N2O, HFCs, PFCs, SF6. Category in the table below:

3.1.3 Operating boundary map

All factories and living area which belongs to Quanta Shanghai Manufacturing City

are in the inventory range. It conducts the inventory with all facilities and emission sources

of living area and factory.

When the operational boundaries change, this report will be revised and issued

together.

3.2 Greenhouse Gases category description

There are four categories with QSMC emissions of greenhouse gases, which is

carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrogen carbon fluoride

(HFCS). The emissions profile is shown in inventory results of Annex Inventory.

3.2.1 Direct greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1)

3.2.1.1 Definition: Scope 1 is for the emission source controlled or owned by the

factory directly.

In 2010 Quanta Shanghai Manufacturing City QSMC, the total direct emissions is

14964.1684 tons CO2e. The direct emissions source categories as follows:

⑴ Stationary combustion sources: 10847.6343 tons CO2e of greenhouse gases.

⑵ Mobile combustion sources: 467.3085 tons CO2e of greenhouse gases.

⑶ Fugitive emission sources: 3649.2255 tons CO2e of greenhouse gases.

⑷There isn't manufacturing process emission sources, so that none of these

greenhouse gas emissions.

3.2.1.4 The company doesn’t have CO2 emissions from biomass burning.

3.2.2 Greenhouse gas emissions from the Indirect energy (Scope 2)

3.2.2.1 Definition: Scope 2 refers to the import or input power, steam and heat energy

generated by the indirect greenhouse gas emissions.

3.2.2.2 Indirect emissions inventory results

The total of indirect emissions is 297,224.4550 tons CO2e in QSMC at 2010.

3.3 The total of greenhouse gases emissions

The total of greenhouse gas emissions is 312,188.6233 tons CO2e in QSMC at

2010.

Chapter 4 Quantify greenhouse gas

4.1Quantitative methods

4.1.1 Quantitative principles:

The quantitative methods of greenhouse gas mainly include in: the emission factor

methods, the direct monitoring methods and the weight balance methods. In the case of

feasible technical methods, we can use the mass balance method. If government or other

functional departments give us the monitoring report, we can use the direct monitoring

method. Any other situations, we use the internationally accepted emission factor method.

The discharge amount of greenhouse gas emission sources mainly adopt the emission

factor method to calculate. Calculations are as follows:

The volume of use or output × emission factor × GWP (Global Warming Potential

factor = CO2e (the number of equivalents of CO2)

1) According to the different sources of various kinds of greenhouse gas emissions,

we need to exchange the unit into the weight or volume unit (kg or l)

2) A variety of occurrence sources, according to the emission coefficient and

calculation method which are provided by IPCC 2006 Greenhouse Gas Inventory

Guidelines

3) After choosing the emission coefficient, according to the GWP of varies

greenhouse gas which comes from the Fourth Assessment Report of greenhouse gases

in 2007, the all calculate numerical values are converted to CO2e(the number of

equivalents of CO2),the unit is metric ton/year.

4.1.2 Method of calculating greenhouse gas emissions

4.1.2.1 Direct sources of emission

Stationary sources of combustion:

The stationary sources of emission of QSMC are diesel fuel and natural gas.

The discharge amount of CO2, CH4, N2O =annual consumption × emission factor ×

GWP (data source: The IPCC 2006 version)

Diesel density comes from the information provided by suppliers, and the density is

0.842Kg/L. The calorific value derives from 2009 Energy Statistics Yearbook. GWP

derives from IPCC 2007 version of the Fourth Assessment Report.

Mobile sources of combustion:

The mobile sources of emission of QSMC are diesel fuel and gasoline.

Diesel and gasoline density comes from the information provided by suppliers, the

density is 0.842Kg/L, and the gasoline density is 0.725Kg/L. The calorific value derives

from 2009 Energy Statistics Yearbook. GWP derives from IPCC 2007 version of the

Fourth Assessment Report.

Fugitive greenhouse gas emissions

The main fugitive greenhouse gas emissions in QSMC are refrigerant

(R23/R134a/R404a/R407c/R410a/R507)and CO2 or Seven fluorine methane from the

daily fire fighting affairs.

Fugitive emissions from refrigerant(use coefficient of Fugitive method to count)

Annual HFCS emissions =rated amount of filling material of each unit X leakage

rate X GWP( Source: IPCC 2006 edition)

Amount of filling material of each unit is come from a data plate or the related

evidence from the vendor. Leakage rate is come from IPCC 2006 edition. GWP is come

from IPCC 2007 edition.

Fire fighting facilities (use completion method to count)

The fire extinguisher used in QSMC is dry powder, CO2 fire extinguisher and seven

fluorine methane fire-extinguishing systems. Every year we will fill them after drilling. The

annual usage amount equals the Padding amount.

The annual usage amount is come from the Actual consumption. GWP is come from

IPCC 2007 edition.

4.1.2.2 Indirect greenhouse gas emission (scope 2)

Input from outside the organizational boundaries of electricity

Purchased electricity to create the method for calculating CO2 equivalent

The annual amount of CO2 emissions = power consumption × emission factor ×GWP

Annual power consumption is come from the GA’s related evidence. Emission facto is

come from The government report(0.8592Kg CO2e/KWh).GWP is come from IPCC 2007

edition.

4.2 Emission factor management

QSMC use of the principle of priority in the use of emission factors or mass balance

measurement calculated coefficient, followed by the emission factor for the country or

countries outside the region of the emission factor, if not applicable emission factor is the

application of coefficients of the adoption of international notice. At present the use of

national emission factors for purchased electricity, CO2 fire extinguisher use of mass

balance, using the IPCC published oven refrigerant coefficient of diesel with no

measurements and with no national emission factors, so use of the application of IPCC

announcement × heat value conversion factor derived from the coefficient.

4.3 Quantitative methods change description

Quantitative methods change, divided by a new calculation method of calculation,

and need for comparison with the original, shows the differences between the two and the

reason for choosing the new method of calculation, this is the base year inventory, and no

change in calculation method.

4.4 Emission factors change description

Selection of emission factors and instruction refer to the discharge coefficient table, if

the source of data changes, the discharge calculation coefficient of emission not only

needs re-filing and computing, but also shows differences with the original coefficients,

this is the base year inventory, and no change in the discharge coefficient of emission.

4.5 Data Quality Management

4.5.1 To require the accuracy of the data quality, the responsible authority must

specify the data sources, such as the requisitions basis, meter records, requisitioned

records, computer database records or computer reports, etc., which it can be proved and

supporting the credibility of the data should be investigated, and data remains in the

responsible authority in order to facilitate tracking the basis for future audit.

4.5.2 Interrogation and data quality control of jobs to meet ISO14064-1 criteria

correlation (Relevance), integrity (Completeness), coherence (Consistency), transparency

(Transparency) and accuracy (Accuracy) for the purpose of such principles, job content

are described as follows:

4.5.2.1 Inventory quality management: the greenhouse gas inventory team is

responsible for implementation, members of group have the responsibility of coordinated

the relevant departments, external agencies, and units of the factory or good interaction

between projects.

4.5.2.2 Development of quality management processes: Prepare inventory processes,

to ensure the accuracy requirements, QC program priorities should focus on General and

specific sources of quality checking job.

4.5.2.3 Quality of implementation of the General review: according to data

collection/input/processing, data files and emission measuring process, the error caused

by the negligence of a generic error, undertake critical medium quality review.

4.5.2.4 Check of specific quality: the appropriateness of the boundary for the

qualitative descriptions of the inventory, re-calculation operation, the quality of a particular

source of input data and the main reason of data uncertainty in specific areas for a more

rigorous review.

4.6 Data uncertainty assessment method and the results

The uncertainty of the data evaluation need to consider three aspects: activity data

type, emission coefficient type and equipment calibration level, respectively according to

the sources of data, emission classification score and equipment calibration classification

assignment requirements of the weighted average calculated the level of each data. Data

level is divided into five levels, the higher the level, the better the data quality is, which is

used to judge the accuracy of the data. Grading requirements: average scored ≥ 5.0: level

1; 5.0 > score ≥ level 2; 4.0 > score ≥ 3.0 level 3; 3.0 > score ≥2.0 level 4; score < 2.0 level

5. The greenhouse gas emissions data of activity date total greenhouse gas emissions

multiplying activity data classification get the value, according to the data quality score

classification level requirements judgment. All activities of the heavy data are summed to

get the average score, according to the data quality classification requirements, the score

still judge level.
