Building application

Lagan Hydrated LIME is used to improve the plasticity, cohesiveness and water retention of Portland Cement mortars and renders. Lagan Hydrated LIME is a quality-assured EN 459-1 CL 90-S hydrated lime, with independent third party certification and carries a CE mark. The declared performance, by levels and classes, is defined by the lime designation. See www.lagancement.com for Declaration of Performance. Lagan Hydrated LIME may be used with Lagan PREMIUM+ and Lagan SULPHATE+ cement. Note that, as Lagan Hydrated LIME is non-hydraulic, it is therefore not suitable for use in mortars and renders without a Portland Cement.

Manufacture Conditions of Use

As Lagan Hydrated LIME readily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide, it should be stored in a cool, dry, draught-free building. Packs should be stored flat, maintained clear off the ground and away from walls to minimise the possibility of dampness transfer. This product should be stored in unopened bags and should be stacked in a safe and stable manner.

Lagan Hydrated LIME is manufactured by the following method:

• Calcining limestone or chalk in a kiln at a high temperature to produce quicklime.

• Hydrating (slaking) the quicklime under carefully controlled conditions to produce a fine, dry, white, calcium hydroxide powder.

Contact with hydrated lime may cause skin irritation, respiratory irritation and serious eye damage.
