ST. MICHAEL &
PUBLIC MASSES
If things stay more or less like they are presently,
I hope to resume daily and Sunday mass in both
parishes, St. Pius and St. Michael the week of May
25th. I hope to also resume Sunday Mass on Pentecost Sunday,
May 31st. Please see the front cover of this digital bulletin for
Mass times. People will show up or they won’t. I believe that
ADULTS should be able to make their own decisions regarding
their health –in fact, regarding almost everything. I also be-
lieve that, if we set up guidelines, adults of good will will do all
that they can to protect their neighbors (keep their distance,
have no physical contact, “social distance” according to preva-
lent norms, etc.) I do not believe we need markers on the floor
or in pews.

Pentecost May 30/31, 2020
Gloria
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, only Bego en Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen. Acts 2:1‐11
When the me for Pentecost was fulfilled,
they were all in one place together. And suddenly
there came from the sky a noise like a strong driv‐
ing wind, and it filled the en re house in which
they were. Then there appeared to them tongues
as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each
one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy
Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as
the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.
Now there were devout Jews from every
na on under heaven staying in Jerusalem. At the
sound, they gathered in a large crowd, but they
were confused because each one heard them
speaking in his own language. They were astound‐
ed, and in amazement they asked, “Are not all
these people who are speaking Galileans? Then
how does each of us hear them in his na ve lan‐
guage? We are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites,
inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappado‐
cia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt
and the districts of Libya near Cyrene, as well as
travelers from Rome, both Jews and converts to
Judaism, Cretans and Arabs, yet we hear them
speaking in our own tongues of the mighty acts of
God.”
The word of the Lord. Res: Thanks be to God. Psalm Response: Lord, send out your Spirit, nd renew the face of the earth. 1 Corinthians 12:3b‐7, 12‐13 Brothers and sisters: No one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. There are differ‐ent kinds of spiritual gi s but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord;
there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifesta on of the Spirit is given for some ben‐efit. As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. For in one Spirit we were all bap zed into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit. The word of the Lord. Res: Thanks be to God. SEQUENCE John 20:19‐23
The Lord be with you. Res: And with your Spirit.
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John.
Res: Glory to You, O Lord.
On the evening of that first day of the week,
when the doors were locked, where the disciples
were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in
their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
When he had said this, he showed them his hands
and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw
the Lord.
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you.
As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” And when
he had said this, he breathed on them and said to
them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you for‐
give are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain
are retained.”
The gospel of the Lord. Res: Praise to you, O God.
Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Bego en Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, bego en, not made, consubstan al with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salva on he came down from heaven,
At the words that follow, up to and including “and became man,” all bow.
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pon us Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Bap sm for the for‐giveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrec on of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacra‐mentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and un e myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you.
Amen.
