1. INTRODUCTION

QR codes and barcodes are everywhere in all types of marketing today, from in-

store displays to packaging to print ads. Take advantage of this m-commerce trend

by getting QR Barcode Scanner - a SimiCart Plugin - for your mobile shopping

app, to let customers quickly be directed to product pages for easy viewing.

Customers simply hold their mobile device up to frame the code and scan. It’s so

convenient for them to find the product they want to purchase. No manual search

required!

If you are an in-store retailer, QR Barcode Scanner is a must-have to integrate

your offline and online marketing efforts.

This document will guide you through the installation and configuration process of

the QR Barcode Scanner plug-in.



2. HOW TO INSTALL

1. After purchasing plug-in, you will be directed to App management page. Go to

Install Connector tab; download QR Barcode Scanner connector, which is a

zip file.

2. It is required to enable cache in the administration panel of your site. Go to

System/Cache Management. Choose all caches and take action “Enable” then

submit.

3. Use FTP client (such as Filezilla, WinSCP, cuteFtp) to upload or copy all

folders in the zip package to your Magento site root folder. This will not

overwrite any existing files, just add new files to the folder structure.

4. After uploading is done, log in to your Magento administration panel to refresh

cache. Go to System/Cache Management. Select all caches and take action

“Refresh” then submit.

5. Navigate to System/Configuration; if you can see the extension tab, it is

installed properly.

6. Now if you get Access denied error when clicking on the extension tab, you

need to log out admin panel and log in again.

7. Open the App Management and select QR Barcode Scanner in Purchased

plugins table then rebuild the app to check your work.



3. HOW TO CONFIGURE

1. Login to your Magento Backend.

After you complete installing QR Barcode Scanner to your store server, you

will see QR Barcode Scanner on SimiCart menu.

2. To enable or set up the plugin, click onto Settings

- Enable: Select Yes to show QR Barcode Scanner in your app.

- Barcode Type: Choose the type of barcode you want to use and generate.

- Barcode Pattern: the format of code that will be used to generate barcode.

You can enter the format as you want. For example: With the pattern

BAR[A.4][AN.6] the barcode will be BARADFA12NF0O

[A.8] : 8 alphabetical character

[N.4] : 4 numeric character

[AN.6] : 6 alphanumeric character

- QR Code Type: Choose the type of QR code you want to use and generate.

- QR Code Pattern the format of code that will be used to generate barcode.

You can enter the format as you want. For example: With the pattern

QR[A.4][AN.6] the QR Code generated will be QRADFA12NF0O

[A.8] : 8 alphabetical character

[N.4] : 4 numeric character

[AN.6] : 6 alphanumeric character

Then click Save Config

4. Manage QR Barcodes:

To manage the barcode or generate new ones, in dropdown menu of SimiCart,

please click on QR Barcode Scanner => Manage QR & Barcodes



On the new page, you can see your list of QR & Barcodes. To edit a code,

click on the specific product you want to edit. Below is BARUKQMLJYJXH:

- Barcode: Input the barcode for the product shown above

- QR code: Input the QR code for the product shown above

- Status: Select to enable or disable this barcode

Remember to click Save Item.

5. Print barcode

Click onto Print Barcodes on the right hand side.

In the new window, you will see Barcode Generator, in which you can

configure:

- Barcode Type: Type of barcode you want to print

- Paper Size: The size of paper you want to print Barcode on.

- Height of Barcode: The height of barcode you want to print

- Number of Barcodes: The quantity of barcode will be printed



- Select Template: The format of printed barcode with other

information

Then click Generate button

6. Print QR Code

To print the QR Code, please click onto Print QR Codes button

In the new window, you will see QR Code Generator, in which you can

configure:

- QR Code Type: Type of QR code you want to print

- Paper Size: The size of paper you want to print QR code on.

- QR Code Size: The size of QR code will be printed on paper.

- Number of QR code: The number of QR codes will be printed

- Select Template: The format of printed QR code with other

information



7. Add a new QR or barcode

- Please select Add New Custom Barcode on the right hand side.



On this page, you can see the list of products.

- To create a barcode or QR code for a specific product, check the box next to

product ID. You can create choose multiple products at a time.

- Then either check the box Auto to generate a QR or barcode automatically,

or input the code manually.

- Remember to click Save Item.

8. Please go back to your app to check your work.



4. HOW TO USE This section shows how customers can use the QR Barcode Scanner plugin in

your mobile shopping app.

1. Access the scanner,

a. On Android: Customers use the left side menu then select Scan QR Barcode.

b. On iPhone: Customers tap on More button and select Scan Barcode.



On iPad: Customers using iPad will need to tap on to menu button , on the right

corner of the app and select Scan Barcode.

2. Scan the code.

Focus the frame on the QR code or barcode you want to scan, and the app will

scan automatically



3. Customers will be redirected to a product detail page for that specific code
