After several years of steep growth, our industry is entering a new phase marked by savings and cost cut. Will this mean that we will compromise safety? Safety is paramount in our industry and is paramount also for Odfjell Drilling.

Safety Conscious is one of our core values, and safety will not be compromised. We therefore make it clear also through the QHSE program for 2015 that the ambition for continuous improvement within the QHSE area remains the same in spite of the need for savings and increased efficiency. These aspects should be regarded as complemen-tary .

The joint main focus areas throughout the company for 2015 will cover:

• Implementation of Global Standard• Dropped Objects• Barriers against Major Accidents• Self-verifications• Security Awareness

In order to become more competitive and efficient in our work processes offshore and onshore, Odfjell Drilling is now in the process of implementing Global Standard. The Global Standard project will establish standardized business processes and system support

across all sites and business areas in Odfjell Drilling. During this process it is important that we find the right balance between effi-ciency, quality and safety in order to ensure that new and improved Global Standards contributes to continuous improvement. We need to ensure quality at all levels and phases of our business.

Odfjell Drilling has obtained a high level of safety over many years. Even so, dropped objects are still a joint challenge within our operations. Some parts of our company have managed to improve significantly, while others struggle to get it right. Reduction of dropped objects is therefore a joint focus area in 2015 from corporate through all the business areas.

The risk of Major Accident concerns us all, and we must be aware of the major accident potential in everything we do. The motivation for reducing the risk of major accidents is that we want to run our business without harm to people or environment.

We are dependent on accountable and visible leadership in all our operations. The main part of our Company Management System was reviewed and updated in 2014, but how do we know that all personnel are working within our set standards and procedures? The question “how do you know” will follow us through a new process being established for hands-on self-verifications.

Security is everybody’s responsibility and is becoming increasingly relevant in most parts of the world. In Odfjell Drilling we focus on physical security, information security and personnel security through a number of established policies and procedures. As Odfjell Drilling frequently is expanding into new countries, a security assessment is today a required and necessary part of the establishment evaluation process for that specific area.

Let us together prepare and work sys-tematically for a safe and secure 2015.

Through continuous improvement achieve zero fault.

Simen Lieungh CEO Odfjell Drilling
