A CASE STUDY PRESENTATION ON FABRICATION OF

PIPE BENDING MACHINE

Introduction: Pipe bending is one of the critical

area in light fabrication of PWS The method used was heat bending

at Smithy shop and time consuming.

PWS suggested to purchase a pipe bending machine but the file doesn’t reached any where

So the SUN QC taken up the charge to set up a working model of pipe bending machine

Discussion of various setups for pipe bending

Selection of suitable setup for our shop

Development of a working model

It consist of mainly two rollers, removable pin, pulling bar and a case.

Out of two rollers one is free to rotate about an axis and other will be revolving about the first roller, the pin keeps the roller 2 in its position

The pipe is being hold using a stopper setup & the line connecting centers of pipe holder and the tangent makes the base line

Then the pulling bar is pulled to the desired angle causes the pipe to bend

Advantages Reduced time consumption Reduced man power Reduced power resource Easy to handle Skilled workers are not required
