During the construction of my end product, the technologies I have learnt to use are:

Photoshop

Serif Movie Plus x6

Camera skills

The internet

I have learnt a lot throughout the construction of my end product when considering Photoshop. For example, to create my production company logo I used software called Adobe Photo-shop 64. To use this software I had to learn to crop images to the right size and also use the quick selection tool and magic wand tool in order to delete specific parts of my image, such as the backgrounds to create a logo which fit the idea I had in my head. This was used to create a more professional looking product.

Also, I learnt how to use specific camera equipment in order to ensure my filming looks more effective. Whilst filming, I sometimes used a tripod so my shots looked more professional due to the shaking limited. Whereas, shots which follow the characters would have been harder to film with a tripod as they’re meant to be placed on the floor and I would have had to carry it, therefore creating a shakier clip. This was for a more professional looking product.

The editing software I used to edit my product is called Serif Movie Plus x6, which I had never used before. Throughout the production of my opening and title sequence, I have had to learn how the software worlds and be able to edit my video to a standard which gets a good grade. I also learned how to add sound to the video clips. Whilst editing me used fading for my titles as it looked more effective if they faded out instead of disappearing. These skills benefitted me as they made my video look more professional due a wide range of skills, such as:

• Cropping • Pan and zoom • Text • Adding effects • Fading in and fading out • Adding a voice over • Muting certain videos

Throughout the planning and production of my opening and title sequence, the internet has made a big impact. For example whilst creating my survey, on poll-maker.com, for my target audience, I used a website so it was online. This generated the results into tables graph etc. which was extremely helpful as it did not take as much time as conducting a hand held quiz would have taken. Therefore the time I saved using this website could be used for other important coursework.

Whilst creating my titles I used a website called 1001 fonts and Adobe Photoshop. The website allowed me to use a font which fit perfectly with the narrative of my opening and title sequence, as not only does it look handwritten, it still looks slightly scary. The use of photo-shop whilst creating my titles allowed me to use a range of skills in order to ensure my title was exactly how I wanted it to be. For example, I wanted there to be a black background, so I had to learn how to change the colour of the backgrounds on adobe. I used text, cropping and quick selection.

Throughout the construction of my opening title sequence I had no idea what to call my end product. The name ‘Family Remains’ links with my narrative as it suggests that although someone has either left or died in their family, they still remain a family and are able to proceed through their lives. Also, the word remains suggests the narrative involves death due to remains being associated with dead bodies.
