Q5. How did you attract/address your audience?
The front cover image is a girl portraying an indie style by wearing clothing that an indie person wears. The model is also giving the audience direct address which draws them in with a feeling of trust. She also has an individual attitude that the reader can relate to.
I created a questionnaire and after having people in the range of my target audience complete it I used the results to help design the product. This gave me a better idea of what my target audience wanted and I was able to meet there wants. I then put all of the respondents answers into bar graphs and pie charts so I could evaluate them more clearly and get a better idea of what my target audience want from a indie genre music magazine.
This is the questionnaire that was completed by my target audience.
Results of audience feedback in the form of bar graphs and pie charts.
COLOUR SCHEMEOne of the questions that I asked my target audience was ‘What is the colour/s that you would like to see on the front of an Indie music magazine?’ The main colours that would be preferred to be seen on an Indie music magazine were black, red and white. With blue, purple, green and pink being ones that some would like to see but they’re least favoured.

FAVOURITE COLOURS
I used the colours that the respondents to my questionnaire favoured the most to attract and appeal to them as they are the main target audience.
I have kept the same colour scheme going throughout all of the production. However, I have used the same yellow on both the front cover and the main page of the DPS but this colour was not part of the chosen colour scheme I chosen it as it is a bright colour that stands out which will help to capture the audiences attention.
Chosen colour scheme:Black, Red and White.
COVERLINES AND FEATURESAnother question that I asked in the questionnaires was ‘Who is your favourite Indie Band/Singer?’ These results would determine the artists/bands that would be one of the coverlines and feature in the magazine as their fans will buy the magazine to see what the artists/bands are doing in it.

NAMES OF THE PEOPLES FAVOURITE BANDS/SINGERS
The title of my magazine is called ‘INDIE’ this will instantly put across to my target audience who will be of the indie music genre that the magazine is indie.
The competition to have a meet and greet with Kasabian will attract Kasabian fans who are of the indie music genre.
By having the most popular indie bands according to my audience research on the front cover shows that they are featured in the magazine meaning their fans will be interested in the articles.
This will attract the audience that went to Leeds Festival as they
may have pictures that are in the magazine of
themselves.
People who either know of the band or want to know more about the band will
be attracted to this coverline as it’s a exclusive
first interview.
The audience may want to know if their favourite artist/bands got into the
50 most memorable moments so will buy to
find out if they did.
According to my audience research most people would be prepared to pay £2.50
for a music magazine so I made the price of INDIE magazine £2.50.
I have used the most popular indie bands and artists according to my audience research to make be involved in the feature articles. This will attract many of the target audience as they will be interested in reading the articles .
By having articles like ‘The best drum kits?’ and ‘Breaking out – How to get your band noticed’ will attract drummers of the indie music genre and bands/artists who want to break into the music business.
Also people looking for inspiration will be interested in the main coverline about ‘Charlotte Appleton – I’ve finally been noticed’.
The images also reflect the music genre.
Image 1: is connected to the article about Arctic Monkeys
who are an indie band.Image 2: Is about a small artist who is also an indie
singer. Image 3: is connected to the article about the best drum
kits.
I have kept to the colour scheme Black, Red and
White as that’s what the respondents from the
audience research said they would most like to see .
Refrain who is the band that I had to interview for the double page spread are a band who base there music on the indie type genre. I think this will attract the attention of the target audience with the magazine being an indie magazine they may be interested in indie bands that are breaking into the music business. Again I have kept to the main colour scheme of Black, Red and White, however, I have added the same yellow that I used on the front cover to link the pages together more. As the respondents of the audience research are where a part of the target audience that I was aiming at the colour scheme will attract them as they said that they would mainly like to see them colours. The language that is used is used by indie people as the band themselves are indie and use the same language.
