Q5- How did you attract/address your audience? Kate Sutton

Evaluation During the planning of my magazine I decided that I would model it around the idea of Mix Mag. This meant making it appeal to a young – late teens to early thirties – audience. Mix Mag did this by always including a young, attractive, tanned and toned model on the front cover with bright colours that fit the main theme for each issue of each magazine. They linked both of these aspects together by tying in the colour scheme with the models clothes matching the fonts on the page. This would appeal to the audience as it involves bright, eye catching colours, partying destinations and attractive models on the front covers. The style of magazine being based around clubbing, night life and dance music – people find these factors appealing and therefore it is incorporated into the magazine to grab attention of these audience range which is what I need to do.

People within the target audience and age range would be interested in the look of the model(s) on the cover and how the bright colours fit the style of music that the magazine represents. Men within the age range would either be attracted to a female model on the cover, or, if a male model is featured – be interested in the way that h looks and maybe even aspire to look the same way. Similarly, if it was a female reader, she would either most likely be attracted to a male model on the front, or be interested in how the woman model looks, what she is wearing, or her figure. This broadens the audience for the magazine as it involves more people than those that are just interested in the type of music that is featured.
