Who would be the audience for your media product

Page 3: Q4

I found who my audience was by the survey I made. One of the starting question was to ask what they age range would be. I did this so that I know what styling to make the magazine and the article on the double page spread. From my finding I have out that my audience would be primarily between the ages of 16-20. This allows me to not have to make the magazine and can have a much more relaxed feel as the other generation stereotypically prefers things that are more informative. This would make my magazine based around profit relating things and news stories, whereas the younger generations have allowed me to do more of an interview style of article. With the interviewee taking a much less serious by describing things that have gone on in his life rather than just his music. However the music is also addressed in the interview to keep the readers happy and in the know. On the other hand, saying all this, just under 20% of the people I interviewed were over 51. This means that I still have to make it appropriate for all audiences. I have done this by making the layout more professional keeping the theme of Red and White ongoing throughout the whole magazine. This makes the magazine look presentable and professional to all ages.

My audience is targeted at students at University and also those who have just left. This is because the price of my magazine is affordable for the students, especially since the magazine is published monthly this is a good price for the content that is produced. The audience is also intended with the tone of the magazine especially in the main article. ‘Touring, Avichi and Deer?’ The headline would attract my audience of youth with the humour and the styling of the magazine. My audience would consist of both male and females but there still be slightly more female. According to my survey that I have taken, my audience will be 40% male and then 60% female (more or less). I have made my magazine to fit this by making my magazine have gender neutral colours (i.e red, white, black) With the only indication of it leaning towards being female central being the double page spread and front cover being a ‘heartthrob’ and a girl who has more clothes covering her body. Normally in a male based audience the images of females would be hardly clothed or sexualised in some way
