Camera Shots

• Varied camera shots used, mainly used mid shots and long shots. This helped demonstrate the isolation of the artist Jamie Louis.

• Jump cuts were also used to show the contrasting atmospheres of Jamie Louis completely alone and in a crowd, however in both scenes he feels lonely.

Camera Movement

• Most of the time the cameraman mirrored the artist as he performed. It was mostly improvised to emphasise the natural environment and behavniour.

• Furthermore creating a panoramic movement as no equipment was used for the camera, it was all mirroring the artist through walking/crawling.

Editing

• The editing matched the pace of the beat and tempo of the song which helped accentuate the tone.

• We also wanted to portray the confusion and loss of control of the artist in the video by using many jump cuts of different pieces of footage. This shows how the artist memory is puzzling and therefore the audience watching the video has an understanding for the artist.

Mis en Scene

• All the people, including the artist, were wearing their own style of casual clothing, it showed how the people in that group of friends were used to partying and living their lives like that.

• Props used: confetti, party poppers, cups and balloons.

• The artist Jamie Louis has a signature while drinking where he piles two red cups. Also he was wearing darker clothing therefore representing his negative emotions of isolation.

Sound

• Two clips of the video have sounds whereas the rest is muted to make the music clear.

• The first clip is of the cup being thrown at the camera, this helps emphasise the change in tempo and the story.

• Also in the shot where an extra vomits, this helps emphasise the downsides of the party.

Compared to professional Music videos

• We tried to maintain the professional aspect of our music video by using a SLR camera and using iMovies to edit our video.

• The timing of each clip was closely analysed to make sure the right emotions were portrayed through the video at the right time. This would help keep the audience intrigued till the end of the music video.

• Even though an SLR was used, we wanted to keep a fuzzy affect to the video to capture the toxicated atmosphere and make the audience involved in the party.

• We believe that involving the audience in the video helps make a music video professional as they keep focus and are mesmerised by the video.
