A common convention of a magazine is a colour theme. I have used different tones of purple and black for my theme and have limited myself to only 2 fonts.Magazines like ‘Kerrang’ only use 2 colours like red and black and is easily recognised by their readers.

I have used a medium close up for my front which is a very common convention for magazines. The model is looking directly into the camera to connect with the reader. The model is posing in a ‘quirky’ way to catch attention, this is something most magazines do.

I have made the masthead big and placed over the model to make the title stand out. I have used the pull qutoe of “the fastest selling chart magazine in the uk” this promotes the magazine and tells the audience the genre of the magazine at the same time.

I have used the coverlines to show the audience what artists are featuring inside the magazine, Mix mag also do this on their front covers.

I have used a bar code, price and date for my magazine so it is sellable in shops. This is used on every magazine.

I have used a flasher to promote a special edition of the magazine.

I have put the name of my magazine here so all three pages link together. I have a grey/black colour scheme on this page and feature the shades of purple from the front cover.

I have used three different pictures and put the page number in the image to show the reader where to find this story.

I have used the date here so the reader knows they are up to date with the magazine and I have put the website of the magazine if the readers need any more information.

I have used bigger titles here to show ‘News’ ‘Features’ and ‘Reviews’ and put each page number correctly matched with the title.

I have featured an editors message which some magazines usually have. This is for the editor to connect with the reader.

I have used the image of my featuring artist as the whole background of my double page spread. Magazines like billboard use this method a lot to emphasis the image.

I have used a pull quote from my article and placed it on the left hand side. Magazines do this to make readers want to read the whole article

I have put the word ‘Exclusive’ in bold to stand out from the rest of the title as the article is exclusive to the magazine.

I have used a sub title giving a brief description of what the article is about.

My article is in a question and answer format which most magazine use.
