better insulation – we make everything look and feel

What We DoRENOVA is a renovations company which specialises in the Deep

Retrofit of existing houses.

We are a customer-oriented design and build company, and will always

specify the most appropriate and cost effective measures to make your

home more energy-efficient, comfortable and smart.

At RENOVA, we carry out all the works using only our own staff and

trusted partners. We take great pride in finishing off all our projects to

the highest standard.

1. We specify the Retrofit Works

We know from experience what it takes to make your home more energy

efficient and comfortable. We will specify measures such as insulation,

air-tightness, heating, ventilation and electrics. Our specifications are always

tailored to suit your individual needs and budget. We never specify the same

package of works twice, because each client and home is unique.

2. We do the Interior Design

Our interior designer is on hand to select all the fittings and finishes for

your home renovation. Our showroom provides a relaxed and hassle-free

environment where you can choose all of your finishes under one roof.

While we advise, we will never impose a particular preference or

style – you’ll always remain in control. It’s your home, your

space – to your style and your taste.

3. We carry out the Building Works

Using only our own staff and trusted partners, we carry out all the

building works ourselves. Works will not commence until the specification

is finalised and all design decisions are made. This policy guarantees a

completely stress free and enjoyable building experience for everyone

involved. Sit back and enjoy watching your renovation come together.

Thinking DeeperDeep Retrofit Explained

At RENOVA we define ’Deep Retrofit’ as an investment in Energy Efficiency

that will save you, the homeowner, up to 70% or more on your energy bills*.

However, the primary benefit of investing in a Deep Retrofit is the amazing

feeling of comfort. Your home will be at a comfortable temperature all year

round and draughts will be a thing of the past. Proper ventilation means that

condensation is eliminated and air quality is improved. Increased

sound-proofing means you won’t be disturbed by traffic or noisy

neighbours. Your energy bills will be greatly reduced.

A Deep Retrofit is the complete overhaul of the fabric of your home to

reduce your energy use and improve your overall Building Energy

Rating (BER).

Wall Insulation

Wall insulation can be improved in a number of ways:

• Insulated dry-lining internally

• Blown-in cavity-wall insulation

• External insulation with render finish

Roof Insulation

As up to 20% of heat can escape through your roof, a relatively small investment

in roof insulation will yield great returns. For even greater efficiency your old attic

hatch can be replaced with a draught-proof insulated attic door and ladder.

Floor Insulation

Insulate your ground floor to retain heat and consider installing underfloor

heating for a feeling of warmth and comfort under foot. Use air tight membranes

and tapes to eliminate unwanted draughts too.

Heating

Generate heat as efficiently as possible. Choose from energy efficient condensing

boilers, heat pumps and renewable energy/biomass appliances to maximise

efficiencies. Install intelligent heating controls to reduce energy usage.

Measures include: creating separate heating zones, room temperature

thermostats and programmable timers.

Lighting

Huge developments in energy efficient lighting have been made in recent

years with the introduction of low energy LED lights. You can expect to

save up to 80% in the cost of lighting your home while also improving

lighting quality.

Air-tightness

Air-tightness is achieved using special membranes, tapes and attention to

detail. Only when construction is air-tight can warm air be retained and cold

air kept out. Preventing unpleasant draughts means greater living comfort and

increased energy efficiency. A ‘blower door test’ is carried out to check

air-tightness results.

Ventilation

When working towards air-tight construction, the commonly used ‘hole in

the wall’ ventilation is far from ideal. A demand-controlled mechanical

ventilation system, that automatically senses when it needs to operate, is the

best way to balance indoor air quality and energy savings.

Moisture Control

Protect your building structure from penetrating moisture and dampness by

installing the necessary vapour barriers. Unchecked moisture penetration

can lead to mould growth within your walls and ceilings.

transparent with absolute clarity on what is included and not

RENOVA was founded by Chartered Quantity Surveyors and long term business partners John Martin and Alan Stevens. During the construction boom John and Alan diversified into project management. While others turned away from one-off housing, they stayed focused, providing a personal bespoke service to a wide spectrum of residential clients, specialising in project managing the construction of low energy housing.

In 2013 John and Alan added an interior design service to enhance their home renovation business, opening Ireland’s first dedicated Home Renovation showroom in the process.
