NO PRIOR GIRL SCOUT EXPERIENCE?

NO PROBLEM! No prior Girl Scout experience is required. Girl Scout membership is optional for new hires. This $25 membership fee can easily be deducted from your paycheck.

DAY CAMPDesigned for our youngest campers, to give girls the opportunity to enjoy the perks of camp but still have the comforts of sleeping at home. Camp staff are provided with room and board (except CampTastic).

RESIDENT CAMPFor campers looking for a little more adventure, traditional sleep-over camp is just the thing. Girls sleep under the stars and cook over an open fire. Resident camp sessions run from four to six days. Room and board is provided for resident camp staff.

Seasonal Camp Director: Resident Camp Minimum age requirement: 21Plan and direct the operations of camp. Coordinate camp activities, supervise staff and oversee the planning and implementation of the Girl Scout program in all areas of camp within the guidelines estab-lished by GSCI & ACA standards.

Assistant Camp Director: Day and Resident CampMinimum age requirement: 21Responsible for planning, implementation, and direction of camp programs in arts, outdoor education, games, and ceremonies. Assists the Camp Director in overall management of camp operations including supervision and training of camp staff. Must have college credit, successful experience in group leadership and camp programs, ability to identify and respond to hazards, and possess a valid driver’s license.

Waterfront Director: Resident Camp Minimum age requirement: 21Responsible for the organization and administration of all water-related activities including pool and lakefront and the supervision andtraining of aquatic staff. Assigned unit duties as needed. Must possess a current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certificate or equivalent and lifeguarding certificate.

Salary is based on position and experience. Most positions include meals and lodging. All applicants must have the strength and endurance required to maintain the safety of campers in various outdoor conditions and must have experience/training working with children. CPR/First Aid current certificate required (training available).

DIRECTOR POSITIONS

Unit Leader: Resident Camp Minimum age requirement: 21Responsible for health and safety of campers, supervision of counselors, record keeping, scheduling, and other assigned duties. Work with camp staff to plan and implement unit activities and other camp programs.

Camp Counselor:Day/Resident CampMinimum age requirement: 18Work cooperatively with the Unit Leader to assist in camp operation. Supervise camper behavior, plan and conduct program activities. Must be able to identify and respond to hazards, assist campers in emergencies, and teach and promote respect for others.

COUNSELOR POSITIONS NUT RITION POSITIONSFood Service Manager: Day/Resident Camp Minimum age requirement: 21Supervise food service personnel, menu planning, ordering, and food storage. Oversee training/records for proper food sanitation. Keep inventory. Current Food Service Sanitation Mgr. certificate required.

Cook: Day/Resident CampMinimum age requirement: 18Responsible for food preparation and sanitation practices. Work with support staff to plan/prepare meals. Assist with training and supervision of kitchen aides. Current Food Handler certificate required.

Kitchen Aide: Day/Resident CampMinimum age requirement: 16Prepare meals, maintain clean kitchen, dishwashing duties, and general upkeep of dining hall. Must possess/obtain Food Handler certificate.

SPECIALTY POSITIONSLifeguard/Camp Counselor: Day/Resident Camp Minimum age requirement: 18Assists in operation of the waterfront area. Work with the Waterfront Director, serves as lifeguard, teach/assist with water safety/boating lessons, provide written and oral reports in a timely manner (see camp counselor job description). Current lifeguarding certificate required.

Healthcare Manager: Resident CampMinimum age requirement: 21Responsible for the general health and safety of campers and staff. Maintain camp infirmary and administer medications and first aid care. Review health histories and keep accurate and detailed records. Serve as parent liaison for communication regarding campers. Must possess current (or be in training for) Community First Aid/CPR certification, EMT certification, LPN or RN.

Horseback Riding Instructor: Resident Camp Minimum age requirement: 18Assist the Horseback Riding Director organize and conduct all horseback riding activities and assist in the care and handling of horses and tack.

Camp Kiwanis, Mahomet, a wooded camp just outside of Champaign. Campers enjoy games, songs, the arts, and discovering the world around them in the Nature Center. Camp staff overnight stay for two-night option required.Day/Mini-resident camps offered.

Camptastic, Decatur, is at the Decatur Urban Program Center. Day camps held at the center includes a climbing wall, teaching kitchen, STEM lab, and fenced in camp area. Day camps are offered.

Camp Tapawingo, Metamora, is a 640 acre property filled with wooded trails. A herd of horses makes its home here. Campers also enjoy backpacking and developing leadership skills on the team’s challenge course. Day/Mini-resident/Resident camps.

Camp Widjiwagan, Springfield, located on the shores of Lake Spring-field. Offers an in-ground pool, wooded trails, and challenge course. Camp staff overnight stay for two-night option required.Day and Mini-resident camps offered.
