QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

What is a Job Club?

Its a small group of job seekers coming together on a weekly basis with a team of career professionals and local workforce experts to provide the right mix of weekly support, job searching advice, job leads, and member motivation to help give your job search the momentum and charge that it needs.

What does Job Club cost?

Job Clubs are a free community service brought to you by Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Programs, Kentucky Career Center Office of Employment and Training, and your local Community Action Agency. While of no cost to you, the value of Job Clubs marketed in the private sector can cost a fortune as career coaches and consultants nationwide typically charge $ 100.00 per hour not to mention resume provider services can cost job seekers, on average, around $ 300.00 per resume. As career professionals working within your public workforce system, you have the advantage of getting a team of local career experts for FREE.

How can I find a Job Club near me?

Job Club meets every week for at least an hour (or longer, depending on your local Job Club). You can find specific Job Club meeting dates, times, and locations on the web at ekcep.us/jobclubsinfo (where you can sign up to join your local Job Club) or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/jobclubseky. You can also ask about a Job Club closest to you by calling 1-877-512-WORK.

How should I dress for Job Club?

Because we value the success of our members finding employment, its a high priority to honor the Job Club by dressing appropriately as it relates to your future world of work. Business casual attire is the norm because employers visit our Job Clubs on a regular basis. Appearance standards, along with good grooming and hygiene, must be maintained for the benefit of all members in the group. As a professional workforce system, we are committed to making great first impressions with local employers who turn to Job Club when they have hiring needs. Remember that you never get a second chance to make a first impression, so please plan to dress for success when you attend your weekly Job Club sessions. Items that are not acceptable to wear to Job Club include:

Body piercings, uncovered tattoos

Shorts, spandex, pajama and yoga pants, jeans with holes

T-shirts with offensive language or images

Ball caps

I have a friend or family member who is also looking for work. Can I bring them with me to Job Club?

Yes! In fact, Job Club encourages you to spread the word to all your friends and family who are in need of employment. New member orientation begins 30 minutes before the start of every weekly Job Club, so have your friends and family arrive early for individual orientation before they begin the weekly Job Club. Your, our members, are our best ambassadors.

Can I bring my children with me to Job Club?

Job Clubs of Eastern Kentuckys programs are committed to providing a professional setting for adults. Unfortunately, that environment is just not a good fit for toddlers, preschoolers, or school-age children.

What is my commitment to Job Club?

If you choose to continue your Job Club journey beyond the orientation session, Job Club members who join in weekly sessions are expected to:

Dress for Success

Attend weekly Job Club Sessions

Meet regularly with your career advisor

Set weekly job searching goals

Conduct active job searches
