CEI 331 DIN 4102 The standards The properties of Firox ® / Pyronax ® Firox ® / Pyronax ® tape is made of Phlogopite or Muscovite mica paper of various weights (from 63 to 160 gr/m 2 ) or thicknesses, impregnated with a high performance heat- resistant silicon resin. To increase the tensile strength, it is reinforced with a support of glass fiber or polyethylene film. Cogebi’s proprietary manufacturing process produces a dry, non- adhesive tape that is flexible and perfectly adapted to the production methods used for taping cables. The advantages of mica Cogebi manufactures Firox ® / Pyronax ® tape using Muscovite or Phlogopite mica, the most suitable mica insulation for cables subjected to a flame or to high temperatures. Thermal resistance Cables insulated with Firox ® / Pyronax ® tapes can withstand temperatures up to 1000°C (1832°F). These materials are non-combustible and do not propagate flames. Electrical resistivity Both Muscovite mica and Phlogopite mica have a resistivity in excess of 10 10 ohm/cm. Dielectric strength The dielectric strength of mica remains high even at temperatures of 1000°C (1832°F) or more. Environment Mica and derived products comply with the latest international environmental standards. Cogebi Group, the world leader in the production of mica-based insulations, distributes Firox ® / Pyronax ® tapes worldwide. These tapes are designed to protect fire-resistant electrical and fiber optic cables. Cogebi has always guaranteed the quality of its products and services by a general policy of excellence: - ongoing technological innovation - commercial policy giving preference to direct contacts with its customers - R&D policy of technical support to its customers and industrial partners - management policy of manufacturing and control of the entire production chain from the mineral to the finished product - Certified Quality System monitoring the various production stages assuring product traceability and offering product documentation and certification - investment policy enabling expansion of production capacity in order to ensure the shortest possible lead times - investment in state of the art production technology. Electric and fiber optic cables insulated with Firox® / Pyronax® tapes- meet the most stringent international fire-resistance standards- reduce the volume of toxic gases and fumes emitted during of a fire.Firox® / Pyronax® is made of mica, a natural material, and is chemically neutral, non-toxic and entirely halogen-free.Firox® / Pyronax® provides a unique barrier against fire and does not propagate flames.

Mica insulation tapes for fire-resistant electrical cables

1. Copper conductor2. Firox® / Pyronax® tape3. Outer sheath

Firox® / Pyronax® tape is applied directly to the conductor.

1. Copper conductor2. Elastomer insulation3. Firox® / Pyronax® tape4. Outer sheath

Firox® / Pyronax® tape is applied to a cluster of insulated conduc-tors. Firox® / Pyronax® not only provides electrical insulation but also acts as a flame barrier.

Firox® / Pyronax® is a flexible tape which can be applied using all standard vertical or longitudinal taping equipment. Our production method ensures maximum regula rity of the winding tension, up to 100 N/cm, enabling high winding speeds of up to 3000 rpm.

Firox® / Pyronax® is particularly suit-able for extrusions using elastomers,

such as cross-linked polyethylene, polypropylene, fluorated polymers and silicone rubber.

The way in which a cable is con-structed depends on the specific requirements imposed upon the cable. Firox® / Pyronax® can be applied in one or more layers, usually with a 20-50% overlap.

Supply form and packaging Firox® / Pyronax® is available on a 1000 mm-wide master roll or in cut widths. These may be supplied on reels (tape width ranging from 4 mm to 500 mm) or on traverse wound spools (tape width ranging from 4 mm to 15 mm). Thanks to its ongoing adaptation to the market requirements, Cogebi offers a wide range of reels and spools compatible with commercially available machines.

Tape lengths: - reels:

up to maximum 2200 m depending on the type, width and amount of splices in the tape

- traverse wound spools: from 2000 to 15000 m, depending on type and width.

Label:A label affixed inside the ring identi-fies the product and trace it rapidly.Packaging:Cogebi’s packaging guarantees that the Firox® / Pyronax® will not be deteriorated during transpor tation and facilitates its unpacking at the cable manufacturer.Storage: No special storage conditions are required.Shelf life:36 months at room temperature (20°C / 68°F).
