What are Motivation, Perception and Emotions in psychology?

    Motivation

Motivation is defined as the process that initiates, guides and maintains

goal-oriented behaviors. Motivation is what causes us to act, whether it isgetting a glass of water to reduce thirst or reading a book to gain

knowledge. It involves the biological, emotional, social and cognitive forces

that activate behavior. In everyday usage, the term motivation is frequently

used to describe whya person does something. For example, you might

say that a student is so motivated to get into a clinical psychology program

that she spends every night studying.

    Perception

Perception refers to interpretation of what we take in through our senses.

The way we perceive our environment is what makes us different from

other animals and different from each other.

    Emotions

These terms are difficult to define and even more difficult to understandcompletely. People have been attempting to understand this phenomenonfor thousands of years, and will most likely debate for a thousand more. The James-Lange theory of emotion argues that an event causesphysiological arousal first and then we interpret this arousal. Only after ourinterpretation of the arousal can we experience emotion. If the arousal isnot noticed or is not given any thought, then we will not experience anyemotion based on this event.EXAMPLE: You are walking down a dark alley late at night. You hearfootsteps behind you and you begin to tremble, your heart beats faster, andyour breathing deepens. You notice these physiological changes and

interpret them as your bodys preparation for a fearful situation. You thenexperience fear.

Types of factors in our daily life with emotions

Situational factorsThe situational risk factors include four main situational factors :Home,work/school, a public place and other. Happiness, fear, sadness andanger are expected to be part of organizational life. Yet our respondentsreported primarily anger and stress in the work setting, and were lesslikely to experience happiness or sadness at work than in other settings. The risk of experiencing anxiety increases slightly at home, perhapsbecause one is more likely to engage in rumination. So we must adopt abetter attitude towards any situation and handle things calmly.

Culture one lives inCertain types of emotion-eliciting situations were more likely to occurin some cultures than in others. Apart from the differential likelihoodof certain events, the probability of experiencing certain emotionsmay also depend on economic factors, the degree of urbanization orcultural belief systems (belief in supernatural forces). In the presentstudy, we Compared samples from the Punjabi and Balochi-speakingparts of Pakistan, a cultural divide that goes well beyond language.

Socio demographic factors. The large number of socio demographic variables measured, onlytwo can be considered as potential risk factors: marital status andliving condition. Both married individuals and those living with apartner are about 1.5 times more likely to experience anger than areunmarried or single individuals.

    Environmental or contextual risk factors.

The likelihood of experiencing fear or anger is particularly high intraffic situations. Whereas the home or the workplace may increasethe odds for other types of emotions.

Personality factorAnother type of risk factor is related to personality. It has beenassumed that individuals differ in their predisposition to experiencecertain emotions. Individuals high on trait anxiety should run an

increased risk of experiencing anxiety bouts, individuals high on traitanger should get irritated more often, and so forth. In order toexamine such personality-related risk factors. Of course many otherindividual factors may also play a role; for instance, certain personsare more or less prone to experience certain types of emotionsbecause of differences in goals, values and coping potential.

How to get self motivated to live normal life

How to live a normal life

    1) Attitude Adjustments

Change how you think about your Father. Focus on her positives rather

than what you view as negative. Work around the things you believe

your father can't or won't change. You have memories of the years you

lived together the first time, some divine, some not so great. Those

recollections may color how you think about the new arrangement. What

you remember from the past and hope to attain become expectations for

the "new regime." Don't expect more than you received years ago, and

you just may be pleasantly surprised. Being realistic is paramount.

    2) Simplify your schedule.

A hectic schedule is a major cause of high stress. Simplify by reducing

the number of commitments in your life to just the essential ones. Learn

to say no to the rest and slowly get out of commitments that arent

beneficial to you. Schedule only a few important things each day, and

put space between them. Get out of meetings when they arentabsolutely essential. Leave room for down time and fun.

    3) Maintain a Balanced diet

Some people think that eating salad all day long is the healthiest

thing you can do. This fact is a myth. Your body needs a variety of

vitamins and minerals, including healthy fats, so you must begin to

fully understand nutrition and make sure that you eat the proper

portions of protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats. If you are having

a hard time fitting all the recommended supplements into your daily

diet routine you could try taking vitamin tablets to ensure your body isgetting the nutrition that it needs.

    4) Have Faith in Your Abilities

Always believe in yourself and never feel that you cant achieve

something. You can do anything you want to do if you put your mind

to it and work on it. Believing in yourself is a powerful thing and will

lead to you being more confident and much happier because you

believe you can succeed in anything that you do.

    5) Get A Good Nights Rest

Getting enough sleep is very important for your mind, body, and soul.

It is especially important for your brain as it needs time to rest.

Sleeping and getting a good rest allows you to get rid of any fatigue

and regain some energy which gets lost throughout the day from

participating in daily activities. Getting a good nights rest will allow

your body to regain energy and it will make you feel much better inthe morning. You will feel more alert and happier because your body

    doesnt feel strained or fatigued.

    6) Volunteers Work

Volunteer work is a great way to feel better about yourself. Why not

help out in your local community or school? You will feel like you are

giving something back to your community and will give with less guilt,

especially if you are fortune enough to be raised by a great family.

Not everyone are as fortune as others to be brought up with the best

surroundings. Helping others is a great way to boost your happiness

while knowing that you are helping others.
