Departure Wilandagoda by 1400hrs Drive toward Eluwankulama Take left from Eluwankulama Junction and drive toward Gange Wadiya Sunimal for camping, Coral Watching and a boat ride along the Kala Oya. Sunimal’s contact numbers are 0725-240673 or 0712-241251. (Check the

fees beforehand)

There’s a huge Holcim board and you can’t miss that. Go about 2km before

you reach a Y junction where the left hand road takes you to Holcim Aruwakkalu Quarry Site where they excavate limestone for manufacturing

cement in their factory at Puttalam.

Take the right and after about 500m you’ll meet a railway line (in fact it ends there with no clear indication) and turn right. The path is running in

parallel with the Lunu Ela where it joins Kala Oya close to Gange Wadiya

village. The view was simply breath taking and the earth is scorched by the searing heat and you can see the Wilpattu Jungle on the other side of the

river.

Dinner & Overnight Stay at the Camp

Breakfast at 0700hrs Departure the campsite to Elephant Tree

Lunch at Puttalum To get to Kalpitiya turn right at 120th km post and drove along B349. This

stretch of the road is carpeted only for about 6km and the rest is not so good. The terrain around is harsh and dry but it is offset by the spectacular

view of the Puttalam lagoon on the right side of the road.

The road from Al Aksha junction to Sethawadiya is pretty narrow but can be

done in a car. The directions are not marked and you need to ask the

villagers for them.
