   14 Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, "Why do we and the 

Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?"

 

 

 

 

 

15 And Jesus said to them, "Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they 

will fast.

 16 No one puts a piece of un-shrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the 

tear is made worse.

 17 Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved."

Acts 19:1-101 And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples 2 he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" So they said to him, "We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." 3 And he said to them, "Into what then were you baptized?" So they 

said, "Into John's baptism.”

4 Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.“ 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid 

hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. 7 Now the men were about 

twelve in all. 

8 And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning 

and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God. 9 But when some were 

hardened and did not believe, but spoke evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them and withdrew the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus. 10 And this continued for two years, so that all who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and 

Greeks.  

Psalm 41:3-4 3 The LORD will strengthen him on his bed 

of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed. 4 I said, "LORD, be merciful to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned 

against You."

James 5:13-1813 Is anyone among you suffering? Let 

him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 

 

Leviticus 16:29-3129 "This shall be a statute forever for you: In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether a native of your own country or a stranger who 

dwells among you. 30 For on that day the priest shall make atonement for you, to cleanse you, that you may be clean from 

all your sins before the LORD. 

31 It is a sabbath of solemn rest for you, and you shall afflict your souls. It is a 

statute forever.

 

Luke 18:9-149 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men--extortioners, unjust, 

adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 

12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.' 13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his 

breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!' 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles 

himself will be exalted."

Isaiah 54:5-85 For your Maker is your husband, The LORD of hosts is His name; And your 

Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth. 6 For the LORD has called you Like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, Like a 

youthful wife when you were refused," Says your God. 7 "For a mere moment I have forsaken you, But with great mercies 

I will gather you. 

8 With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you," Says 

the LORD, your Redeemer. 

Hosea 2:16-2016 "And it shall be, in that day," Says the LORD, "That you will call Me 'My Husband,' And no longer call Me 'My Master,' 17 For I will take from her mouth the names of the Baals, And they shall be remembered by their name no more. 18 In that day I will make a covenant for them With the beasts of the field, With the 

birds of the air, And with the creeping things of the ground. Bow and sword of battle I will 

shatter from the earth, To make them lie down safely. 

19 "I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy; 20 I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, 

And you shall know the LORD. 

Luke 4:1-31 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 

being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and 

afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry. 

Isaiah 53:8"He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His 

generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of 

My people He was stricken."

9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the LORD.  10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My 

people.   

11 None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for all shall know Me, from the 

least of them to the greatest of them.  12 For I will be merciful to their 

unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more."

John 2:1-111 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the 

mother of Jesus said to Him, "They have no wine." 4 Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does your concern have to do with 

Me? My hour has not yet come."  

5 His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it." 6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing 

twenty or thirty gallons apiece. 7 Jesus said to them, "Fill the waterpots with water." And they filled them up to the 

brim. 8 And He said to them, "Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the 

feast." And they took it. 

 9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), 

the master of the feast called the bridegroom. 10 And he said to him, "Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well 

drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now

!" 11 This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; 

and His disciples believed in Him.
