  • The early childhood

    and elementary school years are

a vital period of child development physically,

    mentally, and emotionally.

  • Early and Elementary Education

At PUSD, our Early Childhood, Transitional Kindergarten, and elementary schools programs offer a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, creative, linguistic, and cognitive development of each child throughdevelopmentally and culturally appropriate practices while responding to the needs of the child and his or her family. Early Education: The Child DevelopmentDepartmentof thePasadena Unified School District serves children ages 3through 11 in twenty different school locations across the District. Our program offers full-day preschool, partial-day preschool and before and after school care for families.

Transitional Kindergarten:Transitional Kindergarten bridges the path between preschool and kindergarten, providing students with the smart start they need to be confident learners in kindergarten and beyond. Transitional Kindergarten is available to those children who turn 5 between September and December of the current school year. Please check for specific cut-off dates for each school year. Elementary Education:The Pasadena Unified School District elementary school campuses value diverse learning styles, provide rich experiences for all learners, and nurture high self-esteem, character development and lifelong learning. Teachers utilize integrat-ed thematic units, allowing students to make sense of ideas across all subjects. Our elementary programs focus on the whole child. This means that teachers help promote the social and emotional learning skills students need to be middle, high school, college and career ready, such as collaborating with others, monitoring their own behavior, and making responsible decisions.

    Our dedicated teachers

    and staff are committed to

    maintaining a safe, orderly

    and caring learning

    environment for all students

    in all of our elementary

    schools. Our practices value
