Our Children: Pasadena Unified School District embraces its diversity – in ethnicity, interests, and learning style – allowing you to choose when, where, and how your child learns. PUSD has the right school for your child and your family, so he or she has a great educational experience and graduates prepared for college and career success.

Learning Today: We know that each student learns differently. PUSD offers a variety of options to help each student reach his or her maximum potential by cultivating individual abilities. Our teams of highly educated, experienced, and innovative teachers with diverse backgrounds deliver differentiated instruction and rigorous curricula. We are confident that we have what your child needs. Preference and choice can be an important factor in your child’s engagement and ultimate success.

Leading Tomorrow: We prepare our students for the opportunities of tomorrow and enable them to be successful, responsible, and productive citizens. From offering magnet programs in elementary and middle school

to college courses in high school, ca-reer-themed pathways, and common core instruction alignment across the district, we prepare our students for the future. Each year, our students earn millions of dollars in scholarships to attend colleges world-wide.  PUSD grads can be found leading major corporations, non-profits and even cities.

Early and Elementary Education

At PUSD, our Early Childhood, Transitional Kindergarten, and elementary schools programs offer a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, creative, linguistic, and cognitive development of each child throughdevelopmentally and culturally appropriate practices while responding to the needs of the child and his or her family.  Early Education: The Child Development Department of the Pasadena Unified School District serves children ages 3 through 11 in twenty different school locations across the District. Our program offers full-day preschool, partial-day preschool and before and after school care for families.

Transitional Kindergarten:Transitional Kindergarten bridges the path between preschool and kindergarten, providing students with the smart start they need to be confident learners in kindergarten and beyond. Transitional Kindergarten is available to those children who turn 5 between September and December of the current school year. Please check for specific cut-off dates for each school year. Elementary Education:The Pasadena Unified School District elementary school campuses value diverse learning styles, provide rich experiences for all learners, and nurture high self-esteem, character development and lifelong learning. Teachers utilize integrat-ed thematic units, allowing students to make sense of ideas across all subjects. Our elementary programs focus on the whole child. This means that teachers help promote the social and emotional learning skills students need to be middle, high school, college and career ready, such as collaborating with others, monitoring their own behavior, and making responsible decisions.

“Our dedicated teachers

and staff are committed to

maintaining a safe, orderly

and caring learning

environment for all students

in all of our elementary

schools. Our practices value

diverse learning styles,

provide rich experiences for

all learners, nurture high

self-esteem, and character

development to make the

transition to middle school

seamless.”

possible. When our middle

highest academic, social,

High Schools and College and Career Pathways

“Our College and Career Pathways allow students to choose a thematic course of study, such as engineer-ing, health care, or International Baccalaureate, and learn in a relevant, hands-on environment with real-world application. We have already begun to yield pos-itive results for our students. They are more engaged in their studies and have a richer understanding of course materials thanks to relevant, hands- on learning and exclusive business and community partnerships.
