2014 was a dynamic and exciting year in Big Sky!
Like much of the country, real estate continued to trend upwards in 2014. We
are proud to announce, that for the 5th year running, our Big Sky office brought
together more buyers & sellers, outperforming all other offices in the area. In fact,
as of December 2014, PureWest closed more than twice as many properties than
any other real estate firm in Big Sky.
ANNUAL SALES TRENDS*
In 2014, Big Sky witnessed a significant increase in real estate closed prices, with
the average sales price rising from $462,539 in 2013 to $779,303 in 2014. The
median sales price also jumped from $295,000 in 2013 to $395,500 in 2014. The
increased average sales price led to a dramatic increase in our gross sales volume
from 2013 to 2104. As of December 1, 2014, the gross sales volume in Big Sky is
$67,603,640 more than 2013. 298 properties have closed so far in 2014, with an
additional 48 properties currently under contract.

The 2nd Winter season at the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center kicks off on
December 27 with the Canadian theater group Wonderheads presenting Loon, a
captivating tale of a man in love with the moon. Perfect for all ages, including families,
the timeless story is told employing a masked actor (the Wonderhead) with a soundtrack
by the WMPAC act from last year, the Portland Cello Project.
Due to the enthusiastic response to the improv group Second City last year, this season’s
comedy troupe, the Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company, is booked for twice as
many shows, with performances on January 9 and 10. Founded by Amy Poehler and
other famous comedians, this is the premiere improv group in New York City.
On January 17, the first musical group of the season takes the stage in stellar fashion,
with 10-time Grammy award winners Take Six performing the soulful a cappella tunes
that inspired no less than Quincy Jones to describe them as the ‘baddest vocal cats on
the planet.”
The next act, on Sunday, February 8, is homegrown, innovative and collaborative,
with the Big Sky Commission--Montana composer/musicians Mike Reynolds and Phillip
Aaberg--taking the stage to perform an original work by Aaberg commissioned just
for WMPAC. Joining them: Grammy-nominated fiddler Darol Anger, in town for Big
Grass, who will match bows with Angella Ahn--of the renowned Ahn Trio-- in a not-to-be
missed play off.
The next act, on February 14, is timed just right for a perfect romantic night at the
theater as the world-renowned Nrityragram dance company brings their unique mix of
traditional Indian dance with a distinctly modern edge.
Probably the most compelling and unique experience of the year at WMPAC arrives on
stage for three nights--February 26, 27 and 28. It is Sojourn Theater’s presentation of how
To End Poverty in 90 Minutes. An interactive theater piece, these entertaining and inspiring
evenings end each night with the presentation of $1,000 to a beneficiary the audience selects.
March comes in like a lion as Jad Abumrad, co-creator and host of the incredibly popular
NPR show Radiolab, appears for a talk the Macarthur (‘Genius’) award winner describes

collaboration with Garrison Keillor: “Guy Noir, Private Eye.”
All performances begin at 7:30. Tickets will be released for sale in three blocks,
with tickets for the first three events (Wonderheads, Upright Citizens Brigade Touring
Company and Take Six) available December 1, Big Sky Commission, Nrityagram and
Sojourn Theatre on January 1, and the final three--Jad Abumrad, Christopher O’Riley
and Pablo Ziegler, and James Sewell Ballet on February 1. These are the dates for
when on-line sales will begin, and while patrons could wait to buy tickets at the door,
it is a risky strategy. With only 280 seats in the theater, acting quickly is essential to
