PURDUE AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS• All three of Purdue’s qualifiers received automatic berths to the NCAA Championships based upon their finish at the Big Ten Championships.

• Alex Griffin is the only returning qualifier of the Boilermakers’ trio from 2016 ... Danny Sabatello (141) and Chad Welch (165) were the two other qualifiers last season.

• The last NCAA champion for the Boilermakers was Charles Jones, who won the 167 pound title in 1992 ... Ivan Lopouchanski was the last All-American, placing seventh at 149 pounds in 2013.

• Purdue has had three grapplers earn a national title ... Arnold Plaza is the only Boilermaker ever to win two titles, winning at 114.5 pounds in 1948, followed by a 121-pound championship in 1949 ... in 1950 Joe Patacsil took top-honors at 128 pounds.

• Forty Purdue wrestlers have captured All-America accolades for a total of 54 honors ... a trio of individuals have earned the distinction three times and there have been eight two-time All-Americans.

• The last time Purdue had multiple All-Americans was in 2006 with Chris Fleeger finishing as the 133-pound runner-up and Ben Wissel placing third at 184.

• Purdue has nine top-10 team finishes to its credit ... in 1950 the Boilermakers were the national runner-up with four All-Americans ... the last top-10 finish came in 1991, placing seventh with a program record 39.75 points.

@TonyErsland @tonyersland

IN TWO SEASONS AT PURDUE ... • The recruiting Class of 2016 was ranked No. 6 by FloWrestling, No. 7 by InterMat and No. 8 by WIN Magazine.

• In two seasons, Purdue has had 11 NCAA Championships qualifiers and eight Big Ten Championships placewinners.

• In 2015, Tony Ersland was one of nine head coaches that were in their first season as a Division I head coach and one of 13 coaches that were in their first year at the helm of their respective program ... his eight NCAA qualifiers were the most among both groups ... he was also the only coach among both groups to have his team in the final USA Today/NWCA Coaches Poll.

• During Tony Ersland's two seasons, the Boilermakers have appeared in the USA Today/NWCA Coaches Poll 16 times.

• Coached Purdue's first Midlands champion since 1963 in Chad Welch.

• Coached the first two-time Big Ten Wrestler of the Week in Purdue history in Danny Sabatello.

• Eighteen Boilermaker wrestlers have earned Academic All-Big Ten Conference honors ... set a program high with 10 Academic All-Big Ten selections in 2016 ... the team also obtained the highest core GPA in program history.
