About Pumpkin TheatreFounded in 1967 by Sister Kathleen Marie Engers as a
project of the College of Notre Dame, Pumpkin Theatre’s
mission is to entertain, educate and empower young
children through theatrical productions and education. In
1982 the organization moved off campus and received its
non-profit status performing at a church in Roland Park
and later at Roland Park Elementary/Middle School. From
1995 to 2013, Pumpkin Theatre was in residence at St.
Timothy’s School in Stevenson, MD. In July 2013 the Main
Stage, offices and education programs were consolidated
at the Har Sinai Congregation facility, 2905 Walnut Avenue,
Owings Mills, MD, 21117. This also marked the beginning of
the Pumpkin’s Community School of Drama.
Currently, Pumpkin Theatre staff includes a full-time
Producing Artistic Director and a full-time Business
Manager, and employs over a hundred artists annually for
productions and education programming.

Pumpkin Kid Power FundPumpkin Theatre has been inspiring children and families
through theatre arts and education services in our
community for 48 years. We are so proud of the role we
play in exposing children to the transformative power of
theatre. We know that children develop key skills when
they explore theatrical performance, both as audience
members and as participants. We are deeply grateful for
all the ways that you have helped us to serve thousands of
children over almost five decades.
We are extremely proud of all that we have accomplished
in the past 48 years and we are committed to serving
our community for at least 48 more. That is why we are
creating the Pumpkin Kid Power Fund. We are now at a
critical point in Pumpkin Theatre history. We are dedicated,
not only to inspiring and enriching children as we always
have, but to strengthening our organization, enhancing our
effectiveness, and keeping a proactive and thoughtful eye
toward our future.
Your support is vital to ensure that our theatre continues.

Caroline “Buttons” McGee has a chip on her shoulder and
her eyes on a fortune in the silver mines of Nevada. Armed
only with a sling shot, she runs away from her orphanage in
Baltimore and sets out for the Wild West. Along her journey,
Buttons finds an unlikely ally in Tom “Smudge-Nose” Parker,
a gruff old prospector and his horse, Sally. Standing in the
way of their treasure is Santiago, a rascally coyote who has
his own interests in the secrets buried within the mines. Set in
the 1870s, Girl With Diamonds In Her Eyes is a heart-warming
story filled with humor and music that reminds us that love,
friendship, and family are worth more than all the riches in the
world.
