A new visual identity serves to highlight this development. The Zurich agency Scholtysik Niederberger Kraft created the fresh identity. Westiform received the order to implement the new identity at the Publicitas lo- cations both inside and outside. To do this, our engineers developed innovative signage elements. What looks like a simple illuminated poster in white and red tones by day transforms into a luminary with flowing colours at night: red turns into blue and then to green. In realising the project, we not only needed to pay attention to technical and brand-specific aspects: Some of the Publicitas illu- minated signs are located in prominent locations in city centres. In Zurich, for example, the sign shines directly opposite the main train station. As such, at- tention must be paid both to the architectonic situation in city centres as well as potential dangers to road safety. A gentle colour change with soft transitions en- sures that motorists are not distracted by the sign. Traffic is not jeopardised and the cityscape is not negatively impacted. The authorities involved attest that the sign as done has a pioneering role. The illuminated advertising elements are made completely of high-quality Plexiglas. The points are covered with an innovative material which appears red by day; by night the material lets the light of the LEDs through in the various co- lour mixtures without reducing their intensity. 27 electronically controlled RGB colour changers, which can be actuated as desired and fully automatically via computer or touch panel, take care of generating the light. In order to emphasize the dynamic of the new logo, the points in the «P» light up in various shades of each colour. In addition, the lighter points in each colour are located in another place. The number of the colour mixtures to be precisely defined is thus extre- mely large. The new visual elements are not only used outdoors but rather indoors too. Here, in addition to classic signage elements such as illuminated lettering, py- lons and illuminated signs, we also work with multimedia solutions by Westiform as digital signage. Over 75 Publicitas locations are being fitted with the new identification marking.
