Principal’s Message: Education Week:

Yesterday Truscott Street School celebrated Education Week in style. The school community gathered for

a wonderful assembly in the hall. Parents and grandparents and family friends, together with students

and staff were given a wonderful snapshot of impressive events that happen in our school. Our guests

also visited classrooms to enjoy a variety of learning experiences. In the library we hosted a

Donate-A-Book event where parents were invited to view books on offer and purchase a new book as a

donation to the school. All books purchased will have a special donation sticker on the inside of the cover

to be read by many students over the years to come. A great investment in our school library collections.

Enrolments 2020:

Our office staff have been helping many parents enrol Kindergarten students for 2020. Remember if you

have a child, who will be turning 5 before 31st July 2020 and you are intending to enrol them for next

year, please complete an application form at your earliest convenience and return it to the office. Even if

you already have children attending the school, we need a completed application form for each new

student commencing in 2020. Forms can be downloaded from the Department of Education link

https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/going-to-a-public-school/translated-documents/enrolment-

application or you can collect a hard copy from the front office.

P&C meeting Wednesday 7 August:

We will be continuing our series of Community Connections news with a presentation by our school

librarian Mrs Jess Hills. Mrs Hills will present news about how we are currently updating our school

webpage. Jess will also talk about the upcoming Parent Tell Them from Me (TTFM) survey which will go

out to all our parents soon.

Well done:

Many of our students are involved in different sporting/club events on the weekends and I always enjoy

hearing about their successes. Recently Ms Fenech came and told me about a wonderful email she had

received from the organiser of a local weekend golf event where two of our students who participated

really stood out from the group. The boys received a special mention in the results for the day for their

impeccable conduct. Well done Ben Thomas and Jay Perl.

Library News Education Week Open Day

Thank you to all parents, grandparents and friends who kindly donated books yesterday. The funds

raised will enable us to buy many more valuable resources for our library. The children are already

enjoying borrowing their new books.

Book Week 19 August to 23 August

We already have some parents and carers volunteer to read to our students in the library on Wednesday

21 August from 9am, before Book Parade begins. If there are any more volunteers who would like to read

their favourite childhood story from our library, or bring one in from home, please let me know.
