DISASTER PREPAREDNESS TRAINING
• Training for community:a) Local Government, military officers, and NGO (ACT Foundation)b) Since 2009, 2,000 people (equivalent with 10,000 people – 1
person having 4 family members) from more than 15 cities across Indonesia have been trained
c) Experts from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and Indonesia National Platform
• Training for Sampoerna employees:Until the end of 2012, the training has supported employees in 35 area offices with more than 700 employee participants

Stakeholders:Local government officials, military officers, and NGO (IDEP Foundation)
Support government ‘One Billion Trees’ (OBIT) program by planting more than 120,000 trees in 7 critical areas in 2012 and will be continued with the planting of more than 130,000 trees in 2013.
Local government played the leading role in ensuring the sustainability of the program.

To carry out forest conservation at Mount Arjuna, East Java on a sustainable basis, by implementing the Forest Parenting Concept
The program includes:• Reforestation of 100 hectares of
land by planting and establish the nursery of 50,000 trees for 5 years
• Fire prevention training• Development of a community
radio system.

Mount Arjuna is the source of the Brantas River, which provides critical supply of water to 22 million people in East Java
The program will run from April – December 2013 and results expected from the program are:• Increase tree cover for an area of 100 hectares around water
sources by planting 27,000 bamboo trees.• Improve water supply catchment to 252,800 M³ per year through
the establishment of 100 absorption wells

Radio communication training
Socialization to the villagers
Disaster simulation by the community
Strengthening community capacity in Disaster Risk Reduction in the volcanic mountains. More than 15,000 people in 40 villages participated in the Early Warning System program.
The community were also trained to use communication tools such as Radio Communication (Handy Talky – HT) and established Community Radio (RAKOM) as a Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) campaign media.

This program is in line with the initiative of Bali Governor and also to support the initiative of National Disaster Preparedness Agency (BNPB) to create “resilient villages” to minimize the loss of property (house) when earthquake occurs.
