Variety and Scope
National Regional Community-Based Site-Specific
Public Lands Partnerships
Volunteers People who gives time
and talent to advance the mission of a public lands agency or partnering organization.
Receive no salary or wages from the agency or organization for the voluntary service.
Friends Groups
Organizations of interested citizens established primarily to benefit a specific area or program. Friends provide volunteer services, assist in resource management, build constituency support, fundraise, and publicize important issues.
Cooperating (Interpretive) Associations
Engage the public by providing interpretive products, programs, and servicesAgreement allows for sales of interpretive materials within agency facilities
Concessionaires
Businesses that offer services to public lands visitors such as lodging, food services, gifts and souvenirs, equipment rentals, and transportationRelationship with public lands is contractual
Field Institutes (Field Schools)
Provide in-depth learning and research opportunities for educators, students, residents and visitors.
Foundations
Nonprofit organizations that support charitable activities in order to serve the common good. Generally make grants or may operate programs.
private foundation -- most of its funds come from one source, whether an individual, a family, or a corporation
public foundation -- normally receives its assets from multiple sources, which may include private foundations, individuals, government agencies, and fees for service.
operating foundation -- generally does not make grants. The majority of an operating foundation’s funds are expended to operate its own charitable programs.
