Computer services for the public at Cleveland Public Library

Patron Survey 2009 Patrons were asked, “What do you want from
your library?” They chose their top three. 32.4% said “Use of a computer” 17.3% said “Help with job search” 30.6% said “Free Internet access” 16.9% said “Free downloads”
These answers were FOUR of the top 10 (Books of course were #1!)

Providing equitable access to computers at CPL
SAM access manager manages patron time. Patrons can use computers for two hours a day.
Approximately 350 computers throughout the system.
In 2010, the Gates Foundation will provide 88 computers to CPL.

Job Assistance—Helping our patrons get back to work
Accessing unemployment benefits—it all happens online now
Creating a resume—Winway Resume Deluxe
Online Job Assistance, Job Clinics and resume classes
Helping them gain new skills to make them more competitive
Computer Learning Connection
Funded by hardware grant from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Opened to the public in November, 2000.

people at all levels of knowledge.
