For Arizona to stay competitive and attract future business, greater awareness

about the role a strong transportation network plays

in the state’s economy is critical.

• Discuss with organizations you belong to

• Discuss with your community leaders

• Get involved in your community’s transportation planning

• Speak with appropriate individuals/organizations who are taking formal action

... Is misunderstood due to the public’s lack of comprehension of how projects come to be, from financing, planning, development, and design to construction and maintenance. Additionally, the public may fail to realize why projects take so long to be completed.

Not so. Legislative sweeps, revenue declines, and reduced bonding capacity have severely reduced ADOT’s budget. The agency’s 25-year projection shows a $62 billion gap between revenues and transportation needs.ADOT estimates that by 2016 it will be in “preservation only” mode in greater Arizona.
