1) Purpose:

Recently we faced lot of issues on commissioning NodeB remotely. The issue was caused due to NodeB

not visible remotely.

The purpose of this document is to focus on how to commission NodeB locally. This will help the site

engineers in preparation before going to site as well as how to work on site.

2) Network Topology:

The interfaces between the BTS3900 and each NE in the UMTS/GSM network are as

follows:

Uu: interface between UTRAN and UE

Iub: interface between BTS3900 and RNC

Iu-CS: interface between RNC and Mobile Switching Center (MSC) or Media

Gateway (MGW)

Iu-PS: interface between RNC and Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN)

3) Problematic Scenario:

The transmission media of NodeB is clear but we still cannot ping it on M2000 server. The problem is

that software version of NodeB is not the desired one. So we need to locally upload and activate the

desired software version on UMPT card.

4) Soultion:

a. Preparation:

We need to send a site engineer to the site. Other then the Access, keys and approval from customer

and Huawei team the site engineer should the following things:

1. Laptop

2. LMT Series WCDMA NodeB V200R014C00SPC376 VER installation files (in laptop).

3. V200R014C00SPC376 software files (in laptop)

4. USB to LAN port adapter cable

5. LAN cable

b. Software:

To connect to NodeB locally the site engineer must have the LMT Series WCDMA NodeB

V200R014C00SPC376 VER installed on the latop. If the desired software is not installed follow the steps

below to install it:

Extract the LMT Series WCDMA NodeB V200R014C00SPC376 VER application file

Now install LMT by runing the setup in extracted folder

Use the Serial key: NODEB

Now run the LMT by clicking the Local Maintenance Terminal shortcut on desktop

c. On site Preparation:

Set the IP address of your laptop from network and sharing center to 192.168.0.88 and

subnet mask to 255.255.255.0. （Any IP address that is in the same IP segment with

192.168.0.49 would also work)

Now connect one end of LAN cable to your laptop Ethernet card and other to usb to LAN

adaptor

Connect the other end of usb to lan adaptor to the UMPT card

d. NodeB LMT:

Now Open NodeB LMT

Click here

Now click Add

Now fill the information as shown in picture

Click Ok. The following information will be displayed

Now login to NodeB with LMT using User Name: admin and password: hwbs@com

Choose forced login by using the unmatched version when the following window is displayed.

Select version DBS3900 WCDMA V200R014C00SPC376

Now, NodeB would login.

LST SOFTWARE in MML command windows

Check if the Current version is BTS3900 V100R008C00SPC100 then we need to download the

software version V200R014C00SPC376 into UMPT.

SFTP Tool should automatically start in taskbar notification area.

Double click the icon in notification area of taskbar

Enter the user Name: admin & Password: admin123 in the window

Click Ok

Now enter the command DLD SOFTWARE in MML commands

1. FTP Server IP is your Laptop IP 192.168.0.88.

2. User Name: admin

3. Password: admin123

4. Directory Name: Software directory in your laptop.

After software downloading complete run the command ACT SOFTWARE

Software Version: V200R014C00SPC376

NodeB will reset. Wait for UMPT and WBBPd cards come back to normal state. This will take 5 or

more min. Till then follow the next step

Again go to LAN properties and change the IP address of your laptop to 17.21.2.88 and subnet

mask to 255.255.255.0. （Any IP address that is in the same IP segment with 17.21.2.88 would

also work)

Open NodeB LMT again

Click here

Click Add

Fill the information as shown in picture

Click Ok. Now following information will be displayed. Select 17.21.2.15 and then click close

When UMPT and WBBPd cards become normal again login to NodeB with LMT using User Name:

admin and password: hwbs@com. Make sure in office 17.21.2.15 profile is selected as shown in

figure below.

LST SOFTWARE

Confirm that V200R014C00SPC376 is available and in main area

Check the alarms from LMT. If RF unit maintenance link failure alarm occurring reinsert the RRU

CPRI cables on WBBPd cards. OR see if the UMPT or WBBPd boards are running normally. If red

light is glowing on CPRI port of the WBBPd board then reinsert the CPRI cables

Now Ping NodeB OM gateway first. Source IP is NodeB OM IP, Destination IP is NodeB OM

Gateway. Then Ping M2000 IP. Source IP is NodeB OM IP, Destination IP is M2000 IP

If ping successful transmission is OK from NodeB to M2000 server.

Now we can commission NodeB remotely
