Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) is defined as:

Ammunition and/or explosives which have been primed, fused, armed, or otherwise prepared for action. These items have been fired, dropped, launched, projected or placed but remain unexploded due to a malfunction or other causes.

• All UXO items have the potential to explode at any time.

• Treat all unknown objects as potential UXO.

• IF YOU DID NOT DROP IT, DO NOT PICK IT UP!!!!

• DO NOT TOUCH, MOVE OR DISTURB ANY SUSPECTED UXO.

• Some UXO may be sensitive to the use of electronic and/or wireless communication devices, and static electricity. DO NOT USE CELL PHONES, RADIOS, CAMERAS OR OTHER ELECTRONICS NEAR UXO.

• Mark the location of potential UXO without disturbing the item and move at least 200m from the suspected UXO. When at a safe distance, contact Range Control and provide a description of the object.

• If possible, marking should be in the general shape of a triangle and as large as possible so that the UXO can be easily located.

• Maximum Speed Limit on all roads and trails is 15mph, unless otherwise posted.

• Use of Cell Phones and other electronic devices is prohibited when driving.

• All passengers are required to use available safety restraints. Riding in the back of a pickup truck is prohibited

• Report all accidents/incidents to Range Control.

• Please be alert for others that may be using roads and trails, including:

• Military Personnel and Vehicles• Range Maintenance or Contractor Personnel and Vehicles• Other Hunters

PTA IS AN “EXTREME FIRE HAZARD” AREA• Report any fires IMMEDIATELY.

• No open flames in the Training Areas.

• Catalytic converters and mufflers can, and have, caused fires. Avoid parking or driving through thick and tall vegetation.

• Report any suspicious activity you may observe to the PTA Game Warden, PTA Fire Department, or Range Control IMMEDIATELY.

Impact Areas:• For your safety, access to the Impact Area is prohibited at all times.

It is your responsibility to know and abide by the boundaries of all hunting units, especially those that border the Impact Area.

Fenced Areas:• Various areas of PTA have been fenced and are off limits. • Gates must be kept closed at all times. • Do not climb over fences.

Parking Areas and Travel Routes:• Use designated parking areas and travel routes ONLY.• Obey all posted signs.

Restricted Areas/Access

Cultural Resources:

• Most Cultural Sites are marked and fenced.

• Caves, lava tubes, sinkholes, and overhangs are off-limits.

• Often structures built from rock resemble archeological sites.

• Do not disturb any site that may appear to have been manmade.

• For additional information contact PTA Cultural Resources Office.

Natural Resources:

• You must be able to tell the difference between GAME ANIMALS and ENDANGERED SPECIES.

• Do not damage, cut, or remove any vegetation.

• Help minimize the spread of invasive species. Please clean all personal gear and vehicles before and after hunting at PTA.

Natural Resources (con’t):

v The Hawaiian Hoary Bat (‘opea’pea) and Hawaiian Goose (nene) are endangered and protected by State and Federal laws.

v It is illegal to harm, harass, disturb, remove, or kill any endangered plant or animal species.

v Report all bat and goose sightings, injuries, and/or strikes to Range Control immediately.

Hunter Responsibilities• All hunters are expected to read and understand the PTA Hunting

Policy and abide by the rules and requirements stated therein.

• Failure to comply with any portion of the PTA Hunting Policy may lead to suspension or permanent revocation of PTA access privileges, and/or prosecution under applicable County, State, and Federal laws.

• Report all accidents and any suspicious or illegal behavior to the PTA Game Warden immediately.

• Treat other hunters with respect and make safe, ethical decisions.
