What is the McQuaig Occupational Test®

The McQuaig Occupational Test® (MOT) measures an individual’s level of general mental ability and several key components of “intelligence”. This is a critical factor in future job performance.

MOT test scores correlate highly with scores of intelligence. Due to its timed nature, The MOT is a speed and power test which screens efficiently for “bright” personnel who perform well under pressure.

MOT scores are not influenced by age or gender. As with most other measures of general mental ability, there is a positive relationship between educational achievement and MOT scores.

A high score on the MOT does not mean that a person will be effective at a specific job, nor does a low score indicate that a person will be ineffective. The score need to be assessed relative to the specific role.

The MOT is designed to measure mental agility against job requirements.

Mental agility indicates the ability of an individual to think, learn and absorb quickly new information, systems, processes etc.

It is important to measure existing high performers in similar job roles within your organisation.

This determines an internal benchmark against which new candidates can be measured.

Score interpretation

Two page report for each assessment showing which percentile the individual falls into:

Group Ranked Report - ranks participants ‘Raw scores’ - completion time,

based on score obtained number attempted and correct.
