3 Material properties

The utilised stainless Duplex-steel 1.4462 for the bodyand the bolt has a good resistance against wear andlocal corrosion like pitting, crevice corrosion and stresscorrosion cracking in sea water and high chloride andH2S containing media. This steel is very common in the construction industry, chemical industry, oil industry, food industry (only lim-ited resistance against lactic acid), in the machineengineering for example, as REA-components andtransport boxes, in desalting plants at OFF-Shoreareas like shipbuilding.

The material can also be utilised in the nuclear industryas far as nuclear technical requirements or objectspecifications do allow the usage (according to VdTÜV418).

HINTThe material must not be used in thefollowing areas:Load bearing parts in indoor swimming poolatmospheres, which are neither permanentrinsed with water nor cleaned, if their failurecould cause serious personal injury. For example when used as connectingelement for a suspended ceiling, pendentsor loudspeakers or for the fixation of waterslides or any other construction elements(read ISER-Merkblatt 831).

4.3 User information

• Inspect PSA-INOX-STAR eyebolt regularly beforeeach usage in regard of tightening, corrosion, wear, deformation etc. (see chapter 5 Inspection criteria).

WARNINGWrong assembled or damaged PSA anchorpoint as well as incorrect usage may resultin serious or deadly injuries.PSA anchor point must be in generalinspected before each usage.

• If a safe usage is doubtable or if the lifting meanhas been stressed by a dropped load, for safetyreasons the usage must be withdraw.A competent person must decide whether the liftingmean can be used further on.

• The PSA-INOX-STAR M12/M167m20 has to beadjustable through 360° when fitted and with keydisengaged. Adjust to direction of pull beforeattaching of the coupling element.

HINTAttention: PSA-INOX-STAR M12/M16/M20eyebolts are not suited for turning underload!

• When composing harness equipment to a disposalsystem make sure that they are supposed to beput together and that the coupling element iscompatible with the fall protection device.

• Care should be taken when selecting componentsof equipment to avoid any risk of injury to personsor damage of property. The safe function of acomponent or a compromised equipment must notbe effected.

• Eliminate any damage of the PSA-Fall protectionanchorage point for example caused by loading onsharp edges.

• The assembly of a PSA anchor point to a couplingelement must be done by using coupling elementsaccording to EN 362 (Grade B and M), which haveto free moveable to all sides. Any other grades areprohibited. Exception: Grade T is allowed, depen-ding on the shape.

4.2 Assembly information

1. The material construction to which the lifting pointwill be attached should be of adequate strength towithstand forces during lifting without deformation(certificate of static forces).Employer´s insurance association recommends thefollowing minimum engagement length for the bolts:- 1 x M, in steel (min. grade S235JR (1.0037))- 1,5 x M, in grey cast iron (f.e. GG 25)- 2 x M, in aluminium alloys- 2,5 x M, for light metals of low strength

M = size of thread, f.e. M20 (means 20 mm threaddiameter)When lifting light metals, nonferrous metals andgrey cast iron or other materials the thread has tobe chosen in such a way that the WLL of the threadcorresponds to the requirements of the corres-ponding base material.

HINTRUD-PSA anchor points are standard wisesupplied with a thread lengths of 1,5 x M.Make sure that the tapped hole is providingenough depth (see also chapter 4.2 Hintsfor the assembly – point 5).

2. The bolting location for the eyebolt should bemarked with paint.

3. The PSA anchor point should be installed as follows:- configuration above user (does not exclude an

other assembly position, but reduces the riskof tripping)

- the coupling element must be free moveable,- the coupling element must not be loaded over

edges

4. Make sure that a plane bolting surface is provided(Ø E, see chart 2). Maximum countersink of thethreaded hole = Nominal diameter of thread.

5. Drill the tapped blind holes deep enough so thatthe shoulder of the PSA-INOX-STAR M12/M16/M20 bolt sits properly on the plane surface. Atthrough holes please consider also DIN EN 20273middle

6. PSA-INOX-STAR M12/M16 must be adjustabletrough 360° when tightened:- For a temporary assembly, hand tightening with

an allen key is sufficient.- If the PSA-INOX-STAR shall be installed

permanently, a torque of 25 Nm (+/- 10 %)must be applied, plus securing with threadlockerhas to be done.It is possible to receive a socket wrench for theusage of a torque (Ident-No.: 7997750).
