Antique Checker Limousine

Coming to Pocono SpringsSign up for a free ride!

A bright yellow 1973 Checker Marathon Aerobus limousine will be making its wayfrom San Francisco to Pocono Springs during the months of July and August. GeorgeLaszlo, a long-time resident of our community, found the car in California and will driveit here with the assistance of his nephew, Patrick Sullivan.

The trip, officially known as “The Viral Road Tour – 2011,” will give George andPatrick the opportunity to see this great country of ours and to post lots of photos andvideos taken along the way. Although the route is already in place, George says that “weare hoping that people will send us suggestions for things to see and places to go.” Tomake that easy, George and Patrick have set up a web site where anyone can see exactlywhere they are at any given time and then send suggestions for places and things stillahead. The web site address is: www.theviralroad.com.

Although the exact date is not yet known, the limo will arrive at Pocono Springstoward the end of August. The first 24 people to sign up will then get a chance to ride inthe limousine. Although the car can seat 12 people, only 6 will take the ride at any onetime. “That way, all passengers can have a window seat,” said Patrick. To sign up, send anemail to George or Patrick at [email protected] or [email protected].

Include the names of the people who’d like to participate and a phone number whereyou can be contacted. Please note: only the first 24 winners will be contacted.

SecurityIf you are stopped by a security patrol officer for a traffic infraction, you will be asked

to show your operators driver’s license. This is normal procedure by the security depart-ment. This verifies who you are and that you are indeed a licensed driver.

Over the past several months, there have been a number of traffic stops in which thedriver being pulled over does not have a license in their possession. In the majority ofcases, the individual does have a valid privilege to operate but is not in possession of alicense. However, there have also been instances when the operator’s privilege is undersuspension.

In either case, if the individual does not have a valid operator’s license in theirpossession they will be given a community citation. That person will be advised to go tothe front gate and show their drivers license so that the citation may be voided. A failureto do this will result in that person being denied access to the community until they have adrivers license in their possession.

Should anyone being stopped refuse to show a drivers license or other means ofidentification, the person will be issued a disorderly conduct citation, in addition to thecitation for the reason they are initially being stopped for.

Please review the rules and regulations, sections 6 and 19 pertaining to these and alsoremember that it is the property owners responsibility to inform their guests, contractors, etc of the rules and regulations of the community.

ObituariesDebbie Schultz (1952 – 2011)By Alice Pinnock

Debbie Schultz was one of the first gate guards I met when I moved in. I remember herbeing very stern, but she was very friendly. Years later, she trained me when I applied tobe a gate guard as she had trained so many other gate guards. She was never one to breaka rule, no matter how trivial it may have seemed to other people. We all looked to her forguidance when we ran into a security situation that was out of the norm.

As I got to know her, I asked her advice on whatever life crisis I was having at themoment. When my parents died years apart, she was there. When one of her employeeswas sick, she was there. Through the years Debbie became more than a coworker to me.We were good friends. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was constantlytalking about her grandkids. I know for a fact that we all miss her and will miss hearingher voice over the radio.

Dorothy CevascoA memorial service for Dorothy Cevasco will be held Saturday, September 10th at theSterling United Methodist Church. Time of service to be announced at a later date.Refreshments will be served after the service.

Joyce WerkheiserJoyce Werkheiser passed away May 13th after a short illness. She was a long timeresident of Pocono Springs. Joyce was an active member of the Senior Club and lovedplaying bingo. She will be missed by her many friends.

Jason Trabalka30 Kiowa Trail

My name is Jason Trabalka and I am running for a seat on the Pocono Springs Boardof Directors, My family and I have been residents of Pocono Springs for 15 years andhomeowners for 6 years. In that time I have actively served on several committees inPocono Springs, namely The Owl Committee, Security Committee, ATV Committeeand the Recreation Committee of which I am still a member. I have also served in thepast as Vice President of the Board of Directors arid in that time working with theBoard we were able to keep the yearly dues at the same low rate without any in-creases for 2 years,

I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with the other Board members toaddress the concerns of the residents of Pocono Springs and to try and make sure thatour community remains one of the best and safest communities in the Poconos. Inpast elections, prospective candidates have made promises that they knew they couldnot fulfill just to get elected. And once elected, used their position to further their ownpersonal agenda.

I make no promises to you other than that I care deeply about this community and thepeople who live here and will try my best to always do the right thing where they areconcerned. As a Board member I will work for you, that’s the whole idea of servingas a Board member, to work for the good of the community and not expect specialprivileges in return.

I would like to thank those who have supported me in the past and ask your supportalso in this election.

Jason Trabalka

Edward Geisler

In 1988 my parents built their home and then moved my two sisters and me intoPSCA. While still in High School I was hired to work for Pocono Springs. I workedmy way through the ranks in PSCA - from Gate Guard, then Maintenance laborer tobeing promoted to Manager of the Security Department. I set my own roots andpurchased my home in 1995. I started on the Board of Directors back in 1997 and ampresently a Board of Director today.

The experience 1 gained working as a youth in this community helped develop meinto an Asset Protection Operations Manager for the largest retailer in the world. Ihave been with this company for almost ten years now. My prime responsibilities arefor the safety and security of over 750 Associates in a building that has a footprint ofover 1.2 million square feet.

In 2008 I graduated the Pennsylvania State Constable Academy at Mansfield Univer-sity achieving my certification as a Law Enforcement Officer. Currently I am alsoworking part-time, serving warrants in surrounding counties for Pennsylvania Magis-terial Court System.

Giving back to the community I volunteer at the Greene-Dreher Fair Association inNewfoundland, work with Victory Junction at Pocono Raceway and was appointed in2005 by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency to be a member of theMonroe County Emergency Planning Committee.

I have been in a leadership position for most of my working career giving me anadvantage when making important decisions for our community’s future.

There have been many improvements to the community to show that the Board andstaff take our jobs very serious. I suggest you look at some of the surrounding com-munities to understand that you’re in one of the best planned developments in thePoconos. I make no Campaign Promises other than I am seeking re-election to theboard for one reason - which is to serve the community and its members.

With over a decade of board experience under my belt I hope you cast your vote forme.

Thank you and God BlessEdward Geisler

Peter J. Zunno493 Tarrytown AvenueStaten Island, NY 10306

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Board of Directors that I have beenworking with and the people of the community for their support. You have allowedme to serve as a Board Member and, it is my hope, that I will be able to continue as aMember. Currently, I hold the position of Vice President and I am seeking re-election.

I am proud to say that during my time as a Board Member, many positive improve-ments have been made in our community. The most recent improvement to ourcommunity will be this fall with the installation of new electronic gate card readers. This will enable members of Pocono Springs Estates easier access to our communitywithout the need to open car windows any longer,

In closing, if re-elected, I will continue to do my part in keeping this community to bethe best place in the Poconos to live. I care about the families I serve and the commu-nity we love.

Thank you,Peter J. Zunno
