RETURN SERVICE REQUESTED
Take Advantage of God’s Power
Parish Caller
We are nearly two months into Trinity’s Bible reading program. How are things going for you? We all probably fall into one of 4 categories:
1. I’ve read every reading.
2. I’ve tried hard but I’ve missed some along the way.
3. I haven’t really gotten into the swing of it.
4. What reading program?
Our Lord reminds us that the gospel is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. (Romans 1:16) God has given us an unchangeable power source in his Word. It is dispensed in the sacraments. It is given when we hear the Word read or ex-plained. But are we content just to leave that as good enough? If you knew that water was the only thing you needed to survive physically, would you be content to stop by the public drinking fountain once in a while? Would you only wait for someone else to offer you a drink? Or, would you carry water with you, taking every opportunity to drink the one thing you need to survive? God’s Word is the power you need for life here and life hereafter.
Jesus also tells us that these Scriptures testify about him. (John 5:39) He didn’t just mean the gospels or the New Testament. He meant all of it, the Old Testament as well. Our reading plan is starting from the beginning. It takes a while to get from Genesis to Malachi. But the Christ is already there. He was there in Genesis 3 as the Lord promised a Savior. He was there as God flooded the earth, for without him, there would have been no reason to save even 8 sinners in the ark. He was there as one of the visitors who prom-ised Abram a son. He was the content of all God’s promises to Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. And of course, he was there when God instituted the Passover – the lamb whose blood frees us from the power of death.
Liberals, doubters, and skeptics all find different things when they open the pages of Scripture. They find a bloodthirsty god, a bigoted god, a god who cares more about him-self than about his people. But that’s not what we find. We find our Savior. Or, more pre-cisely, our Savior reveals himself to us. As we enter into our third month of Bible reading, I certainly haven’t read anything that I haven’t read before. But that doesn’t mean that God hasn’t taught me anything. Every reading of Scripture reveals something new – some-thing that applies to me in a way I hadn’t thought of before – something that never quite made as much sense as it does right now.
It’s hard to explain what that’s like. In fact, I really can’t. All I can do is to tell you to try it. Even if you haven’t read even one of the readings yet, start now. Put the insert from the newsletter in your bible and put your bible on your nightstand (or wherever it is con-venient for you). “Like” our facebook page and get them sent to you every day. Even if you only move from category 4 to category 3, just try it. God wants his Word to be a bless-ing to us. Let’s read it together.
Serving Christ and you,
Pastor Paul Kuckhahn

Trinity Women In Service met in the Fellowship Hall-North on Thursday, May 9, 2013, for their regular meeting. Ten persons were present. Hostess was Pat Zastrow.
Pastor Kuckhahn opened the meeting with an Ascension Day devotion. They then enjoyed cof-fee and bars before the program was presented by Pastor Kuck-hahn. His presentation about "Reliving Your Confirmation" brought lively discussion, espe-cially regarding the ladies’ memories of their own confirma-tion. He also answered questions posed to him about confirmation and other subjects.
The business meeting was opened by President Kathy Stru-cely. The secretary’s minutes for April were approved as printed in the Trinity Newsletter. The treas-urer’s report for April was ap-proved as printed with a W.I.S. checkbook balance of $237.40. The basket collection was given to the general treasury.
A thank you note with pictures from the cooking show last month was read from Heritage Homes.
The ladies were given the nominations for officers for the National Lutheran Women’s Mis-sionary Society, along with the nominated projects. The list was sent around and voted on. Kathy Strucely will be sending in the voting results to National for the convention in June in LaCrosse.
Old Business: The June 13 luncheon will be held at noon at the Upper Crust. We will be able to order off the menu.
All women of the congregation are invited; bring a friend. Infor-mation will also be put into the Sunday bulletin. [At a special meeting of the W.I.S. officers it was decided to invite the pastors and their families as our guests.]
New Business: It was noted that in September Trinity congre-gation will be sending birthday cakes or cookies for Bethesda. The delivery date will be after the September 12 W.I.S. meet-ing. More information will be in the Newsletter and bulletin.
There was discussion regarding supporting Trinity-St. Luke’s School through the saving of General Mills box tops (pay at-
tention to the expiration dates on them), Campbell’s labels (cut around the dotted lines on the Labels for Education), Milk Moola (cut off by the dotted lines on the plastic bags), and certain milk caps (not accepting Kemp’s anymore) and through the purchasing of Scrip gift cards (which cost the same and are used like regular gift cards, but the school gets a percentage of all the scrip bought). More infor-mation will be put into the church newsletter regarding these programs and when/where to get Scrip cards along with a listing of local and national busi-nesses taking part.
The next regular meeting will be held on September 12 at 1:00 pm in the Fireside Conference Room. Hostess will be Donna Zautner.
There being no further busi-ness, the meeting adjourned with the Lord’s Prayer.
Respectfully submitted,
Phyllis Kaesermann, secretary

Call Issued for TSL Teacher
Electronic Giving
Electronic fund transfer forms for Simply Giving are available to members of
the congregation in the Fireside Room and on the church’s website. The pro-
gram allows you to financially support Trinity on a weekly, bi-weekly,
monthly or semi-monthly basis. Electronic donations may be deducted from savings, checking, or vari-
ous credit card accounts. Please consider this as one method of supporting Trinity’s mission to pro-
claim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
On Sunday, May 19 Trinity voters extended a divine call to Jason Schapekahm to teach in the upper grade classrooms of TSL. Mr. Schapekahm is currently teaching at St. Philip’s in Milwaukee. We ask God be with him and his family as he deliberates this call.

Becky Foxen and her hus-
band, Missionary Ben
Foxen, serve in Rus-
sia. Becky writes about her
faith and confidence God’s
plan for her life and minis-
try.
Lord God, you have called
your servants
to ventures of which we
cannot see the ending,
by paths as yet untrod,
through perils unknown.
Give us faith to go out with
courage,
not knowing where we go,
but only that your hand is
leading us
and your love supporting
us;
through Jesus Christ our
Lord.
Amen.
- J. Aaron McDermid
This simple prayer set to
music has been my mental
background music during
kitchen chores lately. My
husband, Missionary Ben
Foxen, and I sang the
prayer in the MLC College
Choir for the Call Service
over six years ago. On Call
day our hands shook with
anticipation and our hearts
threatened to skip a beat
facing a future life and call-
ing soon to be revealed. At
that time, this prayer
brought the words for
which our anxious hearts
searched straight to the
throne of the Almighty. It
fit so snug around my heart
at that time.
And the song revisits me
now. Even though I know
the “specifics” of my hus-
band’s call, I know where
we will continue to live, I
know the daily schedule;
there are ventures of which
we cannot see the ending.
We can’t see down the
road to know the outcome
of the dwindling, pastor-
less, yet all-important con-
gregation in Tomsk, four
hours north. Without a
church in a 2nd region of
Russia, our church cannot
legally exist.
We take exciting steps for-
ward in new outreach op-
portunities. It looks like we
will have a small number of
WELS English teachers
working in Russia to make
contacts and invite people
to study with our pastors.
Will God see fit to bless
these efforts?
We have visitors in our
congregations and Bible
classes. Will they come
back to hear more? With a
newly rented location for
outreach in Novosibirsk will
we finally see the visitors
we have been praying for
in that location? Will our
church members stand firm
during the storms of life?
Will we hold hands and
work together to serve our
Lord?
These difficult, untrod
paths can suddenly be-
come intimidating and
drive us to our knees in
prayer. Faith is what we
ask for. We also ask for
courage especially for Ben
and Luke who shepherd
the people, striving to do
the right thing even when
it is the hard thing.
It becomes less difficult to
trod on when that scarred,
pierced-for-me hand is the
one reaching out and
pointing the way into the
unknown. That very hand
gives gentle pressure on
the back as we turn
through the pages of Scrip-
ture, reminding us that He
is always near. His love re-
inforces our beings, pre-
venting a fearful, faithless
collapse.
No matter what lies ahead,
God’s will will be done and
the lost will be reached and
He will brilliantly turn the
evil efforts of the devil for
the good of his children.
We trod on with confi-
dence of this. We have His
Word.

The Lakeside Ladies Guild will

Blood Drive
Our next blood drive at Trinity is Thursday, June 27, 1-6 pm. The summer months, along with the holi-
days, are times when the Blood Center of Wisconsin experiences shortages of blood. Remember the
Blood Center needs to collect eight hundred units of blood each and every day of the year in order to
maintain an adequate supply. Some medical procedures can use over one hundred units. Let’s see if
we can surpass our goal of fifty-seven units again! We are also in need of more volunteers to help with
the canteen, distribution of posters to local businesses and making last
minute reminder calls. If you could help in any way please call Becky
Knauth at 920-262-0647.

PEBBLES FROM THE ROC 10 YEARS - WOW! On December 3rd, 2003, by the grace of God, our ROC Youth Center opened its doors to reach out to the youth of Watertown and the area. Since then, there have been thousands of visits and teens coming to THE ROC, most of which were unchurched. Only God knows how many of those teens have come to faith by the Gospel of Christ and are now on their way to heaven with us. THE 10TH AN-
NIVERSARY is truly a milestone to celebrate. We plan to cele-brate by having a special Open House for EVERYONE, teens from the past sharing their thoughts, many 10th Anniver-sary parties for the teens, movie nights, and many other ideas which are being dis-cussed. "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into prac-tice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock." (Matthew 7:24)

Then look for the photo wall in
the hallway by the church office.
Many times we sit in church and
we know we should remember
the name of the person sitting
next to us. Maybe they usually
go to a different service? Maybe
they are wondering the same
thing?
If you could sneak a look at a
photo with a name you would
be able to greet them by name
