Evolution of Latipat.

• December 2002: Presentation of LATIPAT Project (WIPO, EPO and OEPM): Regional Meeting of WIPO for Chief of Industrial Property Offices of Latin American, Santiago de Chile. The countries gave us the mandate.

• Signature of memorandum of LATIPAT project between OEPM, EPO, and WIPO, july 2003, for help the countries about stated objectivs. - Promote the exchange about patents informations- Have tools of electronics publications- Built national documents funds- Create a common place about Latin American patents publications.

Evolution of Latipat.• November-December 2003, started Internet server Esp@cenet-

Latipat

• During 2004. started the assintance of the countries in the development and operation of capture modules and exchange of data in WIPO standard ST32

• Transfers historic data (DOPALES) to LATIPAT (January 2004)

• April 2004 loaded the first recent bibliographics data (MX/BR).

• June 2004, instalation and operation of server in Madrid.

• Second semester 2004, started the information exchange and sent by countries (AR, CL, CU, GT, NI, PA, PE, SV, y UY)

Evolution of Latipat.• Training to the technical managers about the process of production and

publication of patent in electronic format. La Haya (november 2004 y september 2005), 12 countries (Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panamá, Perú, México, Nicaragua y Uruguay)

• On 2005, increase storage capacity in the server (for load images about patents documents of Latin American)

• First semester of 2005, loaded the first scan images and second semester, others countries started the regular send of information (for example CO and recently EC and AR)

• During 2006 and 2007 continue the assistance for the countries with the objectives for create capacities to the capture and exchange of data in the WIPO ST32, ST33 and ST36 standards.

• Training continues for the technical managers about the process of production and publication of patent in electronic format. Madrid 2006, Panamá 2008 and Buenos Aires 2009.

American• Create a common place for the publication in Internet of

technological information about patents of Latin America

With the aim of:

• Ease access to the technical and scientific knowledge for our citizens.

• Make of the information of Latin American patents, part of global information that is used worldwide.

Additionally, with LATIPAT project, the support to:

• Process to create national funds documental (bibliographic information and complete documents)

• Promote to the exchange of information about patents. From the Latin American countries to others publications sites (LATIPAT, PATENTSCOPE®, ESPACENET® WORLDWIDE, others)

• Development to the local capacities in the Industrial Property Offices for to the process, treatment and exchange of patents documents (Use of tecniques, tools and standards formats to the manage and electronic publications of patents information)

• Latin America is now one important region that grows rapidly and is important to know what technologies are used or invented, we are creating in LATIPAT site a page over technologies about Climate Change made in Latinoamerica and that can contribute to reduce or solve the problem

• We are working to identifies technologies and investigation capacibilities our people in base to the information keep in LATIPAT.

• Also with the information in LATIPAT, we can work about technological research by sectors, this for help to the nationals for identifies news technologies (for example sites that have development about X o Y technology, development technology by countries, companies by sectors, etc)

• We can analize the activities to the foreing companies in the region or X country.

• We are begining exchange about legal information, El Salvador has begin to send data test; this information can give us to know when the patents are expired and doing a list that can acces to everybody. This is useful if we want to transfer technology.

LATIPAT is an unique project that can ease to reproduce the experience in others regions around the world, this

project show that when have will and wishes to do something is possible, no share only data, is possible to

join countries too.
