The Provincial administration has its own statute and regulations and has the task of taking care of the interests of the local community, promoting and coordinating its development.

Functions and tasks of the Provincial administration of

Florence management tasks concerning the inter-

municipal wide areas or the provincial territory. They range from the sectors of environment-territory and infrastructures to the sector of the services to individuals and to the community (safeguard and valorisation of cultural heritage, tasks connected to upper secondary education, vocational training, employment services).

Vocational training and Employment services cooperates in the singling out of the targets for the planning of the training and guidance activities on the basis of regional guidelines.

Young people precociously leaving school (between 16 and

18 years old)Employed fund Funds of the Ministry of labour - ESF Axis II

Type of trainings: courses of 2,100 hours (articulated in classroom-

workshops-internship activities) with the purpose of obtaining a professional qualification of EQF level 2. For the year 2011-2012 the financing of € 2,835,000.00 was disposed in order to train circa 600 young people for 13 different professions (cook, waiter, electrician, car mechanic, coach-builder, beautician, hairstylist...)

Unemployed adultsEmployed fund: ESF axis II – axis IV

Type of trainings:• training courses with the purpose of obtaining professional

qualifications (articulated in classroom-workshops-internship activities). EQF levels 2,3,4.

• training addressed to high school diploma holders, graduates or people with a multi-year working experience in the sector; this courses are carried out in cooperation with vocational agencies, high schools and faculties of the university. EQF level 5 .

• specialisation and/or refresher courses for those who already have a basic qualification or a particular school education in order to obtain a specialization or refresh already acquired skills.

employment training and guidance • Short courses of linguistic and computer literacy• Short courses inside prisons

people within integrated three-years educational/training paths (classroom, workshops, internship activities) – Obtained qualifications: cook, waiter, storekeeper, organic farming operator, food packaging operator...

• qualification courses (classroom, workshops and internship activities) addressed to people with specific disabilities (telephonist for visually impaired)

• Apprenticeships at selected companies in cooperation with the employment service of the provincial district (Law 68/99) with a foregoing short employment guidance and addressed to young people coming from integrated school/training paths (ca. 50% employed)
