description

To be a fool has little or nothing to do with IQ, but rather how one chooses to live his life with regard to Almighty God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

This chapter is mostly about dealing with fools.

Persons who do not possess wisdom are called “fools”;

their behavior is described as “folly.” The picture

which emerges from the biblical material is quite

simple: folly is the opposite of Wisdom, and a fool is

the opposite of a wise person. Both wisdom and folly

are depicted as philosophies or perspectives on life.

…Wisdom belongs to those who fear God, and the

“fear” of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.Wisdom

is the essence of life. The foolish person is the one

who is thoughtless, self-centered, and obviously

indifferent to God.Holman Bible Dictionary.

Proverbs 26 1 As snow in summer, and as rain in

harvest, so honor is not seemly for a fool.

Snow in the summertime is not right.

Rain at harvest time is destructive.

To put a fool in a position of honor

is both destructive and

absolutely not right.

Remember: The fool is indifferent to God.

2 As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by

flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.

Only God can bless or curse a person.

Anyone who tries it on his own will fail.

God knows what is deserved in all cases.

God won’t bless an evil person, nor will He

curse a good man or woman.

3 A whip for the horse, a bridle

for the ass, and a rod for the

fool's back.

You can no more reason with one

who lives life as if there is no God,

than with a dumb beast.

4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou

also be like unto him. 5 Answer a fool according to

his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.

Most of the time it is better to ignore a

fool, but if he is collecting followers, we

may need to correct him for their sake.

He may not learn, but they might.

Proverbs 26 6 He that sendeth a message by the

hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh

damage. 7 The legs of the lame are not equal: so is

a parable in the mouth of fools.

(TLB) 6 To trust a rebel to convey a message is as

foolish as cutting off your feet and drinking

poison! 7 In the mouth of a fool a proverb becomes

as useless as a paralyzed leg.

Be very careful whom you trust.

Be just as careful to whom you listen.

One whose philosophy of life is contrary to

righteousness and godliness,

Will never tell you the Truth.

8 As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that

giveth honor to a fool.

If you tie a stone in a sling, what happens?

It will come around and hit you.

If you honor a fool with a position of leadership

what will happen?

He will do damage to everyone who

puts their trust in him.

9 As a thorn goeth up into the

hand of a drunkard, so is a

parable in the mouth of fools.

A drunkard stumbles and falls, and very likely

falls on a thorn bush; not fit to follow.

A fool or rebel will always fall by the wayside,

because he will ignore or misuse Scripture,

and is dangerous to himself and others.

10 The great God that formed all things both

rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.

Romans 2 6-8 Who (God) will render to every man

according to his deeds: To them who by patient

continuance in well doing …eternal life: But unto

them that are contentious (contrary and

argumentative), and do not obey the Truth, but

obey unrighteousness -- indignation and wrath,

Wisdom is to fear and obey God.

Folly is to argue against God and His Way.
