Gray is a subtle color that can bring sophisticationto interiors while also the neutrality that homebuyer crave. “It’s the hot new neutral, a sleek and

sophisticated color option that adds refinement to almost anyroom,” says Debbie Zimmer, a paint and color expert withthe Paint Quality Institute. “Walls that are painted gray aregreat backdrops for almost any style of décor, and gray issuch a dignified color that it can elevate the appearance of

even the most modest furnishings.” Zimmer says that gray can be a great color choice for embellishments throughout interiors, such as agray wash on wood furniture or the fabric in seating. In her 2014 color forecast, she expects grey to be used more in homes. “We will evensee gray’s flashier cousin, silver, used as an important accent color,” says Zimmer. Zimmer also predicts “white” to stage a comeback in2014, with white and off-white back in vogue. “As with gray, the ease of coordinating furnishings with a neutral hue like white is appealingto almost everyone,” she says. “Those who are downsizing will favor white or very light-colored walls to make their new, smaller interiorslook more spacious; and for those who may soon put up a ‘For Sale’ sign, white is the wise paint color to apply before listing a home.”

The kitchen was a very important space in this ren-ovation. It has now doubled in size from the orig-inal plans which created more functional

task-working space. The expresso finished raised panelcabinets created a beautiful contrast with the onyx countertops and mother of pearl backspash. Polished Chrome 8”pulls were used that added a nice contemporary elementto the design. As you can see, the counter space is de-signed at one level to enjoy a meal at counter height vsbar height. Another requirement that needed to be filledwas to have a functional island large enough to storedishes as well as non perishable foods. In this island allthe drawers and doors are soft closing with pull outs. FineArt lighting was used in this space to keep a warm tonedfeel to the kitchen.

Sherri has been designing for 10 years throughout SouthFlorida from Palm Beach to Brickell avenue, Miami. Herspecialty is high-end residential projects including privatehomes in gated communities such as Admirals Cove, Har-bour Beach, Hawk’s Landing, and many more. “My goalas a designer is to create a look for my clients that is uniqueand special and always incorporate their needs, requestsand personality into every project,” says Goode.

A Passion for ContemporaryDesign and Art

The contemporary designs of TobyZack and the owner’s vibrant art con-nection created a posh spirit to the homein Royal Palm Beach County Club,Boca Raton, Florida.

The couple lived for many years in aluxury ocean front condo. After decid-ing to move to a home, they knew ex-actly what they wanted. Their dreamhouse had to be on one level, 3500 to4000 sq. ft., four bedrooms, and an openfloor plan and needed to have big win-dows to create light and brightness.Built in 1995 is one of Boca Raton’sfinest neighborhoods. This house fit allthe desired criteria’s.

The couple hired Toby Zack Designs,long considered the best for contempo-rary design in South Florida to create asophisticated interior, design the patioarea and changes to the front entry toachieve this goal.

Zack, working with her design team of Carolina Velasquezand Jose Arango Toby selected and created pieces that re-sulted in a contemporary, one of a kind home much as shehas done for years in Florida, Canada and South America.The home was renovated from top to bottom starting witha new roof, impact glass windows, fresh landscaping,travertine tiles and a new summer kitchen for the patio.

The interior was treated by removing the faux fireplace,sanding and sealing the original travertine floors. Quartzreplaced granite in the kitchen and the master bath wascompletely redone. The owner says she loves the housemore than ever and is excited every time she walks in.

Toby designed a fabulous living room scene with a custommade A. Rudin white sofa and four wood framed chairsall covered in high quality Sunbrella fabric. The home-owner says “Everywhere you sit is extremely comfort-able” I chose Sunbrella so we did not have to worry thedogs, grandchildren and even a red wine spill.

The art is featured prominently in this room and through-out the house. The oil canvas “Gigi” by artist Nguream isa living room focal point for its size and vibrant colors.Other artwork includes a figurative sculpture by LawrenceFeir and a Pion Sigaretto glass sculpture purchased at Mu-rano in Venice by the couple. The small table of ebonizedAsti with bronze legs is by Antoine Provlx from J. Bat-achelor.

The table can seat eight.

The wall space was designed to maximize the space, a lowwhite custom buffet replace two bulky display cabinets. The artchosen was the clean pared down look of “8” a large still lifeby Begian artist Rene Chavelle. On the other wall hangs “Sub-lime” an oil painting by Buddhi.

Toby transformed the original into a contemporary designed show stopper. The tub was moved from the window alcove to a freestanding ocation with Dornbracht faucets. Chrome, offsetting square sinks, quartz countertops and mirrored wall created a femininefeel. The walled shower, smart toilet and a duvet create a spa atmosphere. An Afrcan Ashanti stool from The Toby Collectiongives some contrast. The Kartell chair in black and white in which the owner likes the hearts in the fabric design.
