The Stanley County Booster Club is inviting all
community members to join their organization.
The Booster Club supports all aspects of student
activities and programs, and is looking for parent
and community volunteers. Meetings are held on
the first Wednesday of the month at 6 pm in the
high school learning center. People who are in-
terested in making a difference in the lives of our
students may call Rhonda Sweetman at 280-7165
for more information.
SC Booster Club A great first day breakfast was held for all parents
and students. The Stanley County School Board,
with help of the Pierre/ Fort Pierre Lions Club,
served pancakes to kick off the beginning of the
school year. We wish to thank both groups for
giving us a wonderful start to our new year!
Pancake Breakfast
Conferences Parent/Teacher Conferences
and Book Fair will be held Oc-
tober 7 and 8 from 4-7 pm. We are SC!
Thank You! We would like to thank our “School Supply San-
tas” for providing needed school supplies so our
students start off the year in a successful manner.
Your kindness is very much appreciated.
Note From Our Librarian, Mrs. Smith Welcome back to school! Part of your child’s
school week includes a visit to the library, this is a
fun and exciting part of their week. Please encour-
age independent reading and read to your
child. Reading is so crucial to their advancement
and a fun activity you can do together. Please help
your child to find a special place to keep their li-
brary book so it does not get lost. Protect their
book from pets, younger siblings and the weath-
er. Remember to return library books on
time. Please note students are responsible for
their books and if lost or damaged will need to be
paid for. Please help your child to have an awe-
some “READING” year.
The Girls on the Run program of Stanley County
Elementary would like to thank the Fort Pierre
Road Race Committee for their generous dona-
tion to enhance our Girls on the Run program.
The $1000 donation came from a portion of the
proceeds of the “Four on the Fourth in the Fort”
held in Fort Pierre this summer. The donation
will be used to assist with scholarships for the
Girls on the Run program along with other mate-
rials to make the program stronger. Thank you
again for your generous support!

Emergency Preparedness Throughout the year the district will be practicing several emergency
drills in order to be better prepared should an event occur. We
encourage parents to discuss the seriousness of these drills with
your children.
Sign Up to Receive Our
Announcements The district will be using Remind; a one way messaging system to
communicate emergency announcements and reminders to parents.
This system will allow us to efficiently send messages to parents via
text and/or email. Please note that standard text message rates do
apply. This is a one way system so if you reply to a message it will
not be received. Also, it does require that you sign up as the
district cannot simply add you.
Information regarding sign up was sent home in your beginning of
the year letter; however, if you missed that opportunity, use the
directions below. If you have any questions, please contact the
school office at 223-7741.

39 and in APPENDIX F. Documents may also be found on the
district website: www.stanleycounty.k12.sd.us under the tab

qualifications of classroom teachers instructing their child. If you
are interested in this information, you may send your request to
the building principal who will provide the response.

at the rate of $40 per credit hour ( a savings of 85% per credit
hour). Make checks payable to the University or Institute from

Because of insurance liability concerns, no vehicles other
than emergency vehicles will be allowed in the stadium dur-
ing events/games. This does include homecoming events as
well.
Please Take Note
The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Test
Battery) will be administered to SC juniors November 23
from 8:30 to noon.
ASVAB For the safety and security of our students, it is very im-
portant that when you are picking up your children during the
school day that you stop and check in at the office. We also
ask that when you arrive to pick up your child at the end of
the school day that you remain in the lobby area and refrain
from going down the hallways or to the classroom doors. If
you have a need to speak with the teacher after school, wait in
the lobby area until students have been dismissed and then
you may proceed to the appropriate classroom. We thank
you for helping us better monitor who are in our buildings.

Are You Able to Help Us? We are in the process of redoing the class pictures
that are in the lobby of the high school. Unfortunate-
ly, many of the class pictures were adhered to the
paper with a glue that is now eating through the pho-
tos, making them difficult to see. The original photos
are no longer available to us, so were are searching
for anyone who may be willing to donate a yearbook
for us to cut apart. It is possible to copy the pages as
well, but the cost is 5.00 per page, which is not in the
budget at this time. If anyone would like to either
“sponsor” their class and donate the money, or do-
nate the yearbook, please contact Shirley Swanson at
223-7743, ext 134. We are looking for yearbooks
from 1989 back to the early 1900’s.

held Tuesday, September 8th at 7:30 pm in the High
School Gym, with the burning of the letters following.
Please join us in our Homecoming celebration.

GOLD PROGRAM
The following note was sent to us by Jay Stuart, along with the Commence-
ment Programme on the right. We are pleased to share it with you, and
thank Mr. Stuart for his contribution.
My grandfather was James E. Bowen and was a dentist, first in Fort
Pierre and then Pierre until his death in 1959.
I was going through some old family documents and located this gradu-
ation program from the class of 1919.
I thought it might be fun to have it for your website.
